Open Source Automated Cup Website

Post by Kopaka »

Björn and Jappe asked if they could get the script for the cup website I made for TEH Cup, so I've made a public version that you can install into your own web server. You don't need any php/mysql knowledge to use it, but just ftp to upload it and some mysql admin tool like PHPMyAdmin to administrate it. Also recommended to change the graphics so the sites doesn't look alike.

When installed you can add news/events, change welcome and rules texts and timezone via PHPMyAdmin. You can make any number of events and as admin see results during the event.

Standings are made on the fly every time the page is accessed so you can delete events/times and standings will be updated with those changes.

I've tried to make it rather simpel and it doesn't have that many features yet, only the basic, like no team/national stats, but it's made so it's possible to add. Feel free to make any changes yourself. I will update here ofcourse if I make any improvements.

Read the "Install How To.txt" in the rar

your website looks terrible, thorze.
try making your title there more readable by changing the colour of the text. black on dark grey is ont good.
buttons do not line up; this is not eye pleasing.
it looks platitudinous; put colour in there somewhere.

btw, my cup will pwn yours for sure.

Thorze, if you can't accept any objective criticism, calm down, and don't behave like a spoiled brat atleast.

Well, Leeland could have been "a bit" more objective =D
(not that thorze wouldn't have got pissed off anyway though)

Of course the visual of the website sucks, the original one by kopaka was just as bad (looking). The most important thing is that the script works.

Though i kinda miss good looking websites for cups when you somehow felt the organizers gave a fuck about their cups. Talking about cups like KonQuest, MasterCup 2, LOScup 3 and so on. I do believe people are simply too influenced by the battle trend in belma and don't take the time to organize well a cup before launching it.

Team Points are taken here from the sum of every player's result in the team. Shouldn't it be just from the best one from the team ?

I like the system used in World Cup, where they take the three best from each team for each event.
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?

2 feelings when stumbling upon some old idiotic message by self: "oh dog why", and "hey, I've grown up a bit". Being able to laugh at own idiocy from history is a good thing.
then again i don't know anything
maybe easier not to think abouut alöl things thought than not things thought ... or something..=?
