And nowhere here did anyone say that it's funny to see someone get badly hurt, of course no-one would react like that to a car crash or something similar. There's a distinct line between someone hurting themselves slightly (ie. falling off a swing) and badly (ie. Being run over by a truck.)
You have to remember that essentially, humans are selfish beings - that's how we have come to be the dominant race. Self preservation is important to us and watching others make mistakes makes us look superior.
