Dreams

Post by John »

I could only find another topic called "acrossing dreams" but this isn't the same. This topic is made for you to tell us about what you can remember from the dreams you've recently had. Tell us about the dreams you had last night or about the dreams that have stuck with you through your life. The reason I'm starting this topic is because I dreamt this really unusual dream two nights ago.

Here goes:
Just before going to bed on tuesday I spent half an hour or so watching nuclear bomb tests on Youtube. Yeah, I know, really interesting stuff... This close to bed-time stimulus clearly affected my sleep. I dreamt I was spectating a rocket launch loaded with some nuclear weapon to be tested high up in the atmosphere or something. The spectator area was about 2 km away from launch and in the middle of some city at some open square. The launch went fine for the first few seconds but then the rocket suddenly started pitching, and pitching and pitching, until it was way out of bounds. It was heading for a certain impact like 1 km from the spectator area. People were running but I just stood there, knowing that it's quite impossible to run away from this. Impact! This bright light hit my eyes and I started hearing some sort of whistling sound. I just thought calmly "Ok, this is it, I'm gonna die". Then everything turned black and the whistling stopped, I was dead. But I still had my consciousness left and was aware of what just had happened and I just thought "Ok, now I'm dead" (with kinda "goodbye earth"-tone). I can't remember anything from there.

I just found this dream to be so special that I wanted to share it, even though it means shit to you.

Now share yours :P

Perfect topic, I love dreams, I have many dreams, I write them down from time to time (in German though). Here is mine from 2 nights ago (background information in[])

I parked a VW Käfer on the sidewalk in front of the place where I live in Berlin. A friend was helping me by giving signs with his hands. I got out of the car and saw that my friend was with at least one of his twin sisters. [He and his siblings all do various kinds of fighting sports in real life.] His sister asked my friend: "Do we have Kung-Fu training today?" My friend said: "No." She said: "Ohh, siesta then!" He said: "PUSSY SIESTA!"

I woke up laughing out loud (for real).

I don't dream a lot when asleep. If I do, it's something very uninteresting. Dull, boring, realistic. No nightmares either.

But when I was a kid (under 10 years old) I used to see one particular nightmare unusually often. After seeing it I always woke up standing up or sitting on a chair or something similar, realising that my eyes had been open for a long while, that I had screamed for a long time, and that it had woken everyone up. The dream itself was somewhat symbolistic. There were two individuals with a challenge of teamwork. They were supposed to start walking in opposite directions across the world in perfectly straight lines and meet at the other side of the world (yes, my knowledge of geography was what it was). In return they would be granted something huge, like ownership of the whole world, or something sick like that. Their attempt always failed by half a meter or so, and somehow this terrified me.

It's symbolistic. Being very, very close to accomplishing some enormous challenge, but managing to miss perfection and thus failing it all. To me there's something especially terrifying about that.

During the times of that recurring nightmare I was once watching TV with some vote results. It was some stupid TV program where viewers sent lots of text messages and the contestant that got the most votes, won the big competition. That time the difference between 1st and 2nd was 1 vote. If 1 people out of millions of viewers had voted for the contestant that became 2nd, it would have been a tie. That got me anxious for a long time, don't ask why.

Nice topic. Sick dream, John, sick!

I don't remember my dreams to well. But one time I dreamt something like this:
I was seeing myself dead from a 3. perspective. I was at the bottom of the local waterpool. It is 4 meters deep.
Just laying there at the bottom. I was just around 7 years old so my mind didn't think that i would be floating.
And then my whole famely walks to the edge, calm, and talking about something, and then they left again.
Oh yeah i remember it was night time.

What i do remember about my dreams is that they consist of death and agony around me.

Fun!

As I've been drinking every day for about a month now, I haven't had much dreams I remember. I've had some lucid dreams though, when I was still sober now and then.

I usually dream either similarly to Polarix or i dream about starting a new civilisation outside the current one and eliminating the impurities we have in the current societies (Corruption, Greed etc.) - Not in a Hitler "IF YOU ARE NOT BLONDE, HAVE BLUE EYES AND ANYTHING ELSE I SAY, YOU DIE." kinda way. Just a society where everyone is equal.

I often had dreams of finding lots of money in coins of 1 and 2 euro on the street, so after a while that wasn't very weird or unusual anymore.

I remember a dream a had this week, (not 100% sure what day) it went SOMETHING like this: (yes this is all dream)

First I remember that I was on a LAN (3-4 people) and I was watching porn and wanking. Then suddenly I were on the run from something (no clue what) but I had a cat with me, but it wasnt really a cat. It was a girl that could shapeshift and we were trying to get away from the bad guys when running into dogs and all sort of shit. All for the sake of finding a quiet and safe place to have sex I think o,o Though just as we found that spot I woke up (not a wet dream)

I like negative dreams the most, because reality is reality and it rocks to wake up and realise that things are actually a lot better than they were in the dream. Same goes vice-versa. I hate happy dreams.

Who thinks the same?

I mastered a new way of getting lots of dreams (remembering them). First you need to be aware that you want to remember the dreams. Either start writing them down or just somehow think a lot about them just as you wake up.
Next part is to getting like 6-7 hours sleep. Amount of sleep here should be less than you need so you wake up fucking tired when the alarm goes off.
So here's the trick. You snooze the alarm and go back to sleep. Snooze on alarms is regularly between 5-10 minutes before it goes off again. In these 5-10minute sleep you get you should easily have sick new dreams.
I've done this the last few weeks. Now I get ez more dreams than before! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYAAAAAAAH!

Why does it work? Don't know.
Writing down dreams even if it just a fragment of a dream is interesting imo. You suddenly remember the dreams very clearly and if you look at the notes you wrote it will all come back.

Yes I'm bored.

Try polyphasing? I never succeeded in adapting, but those who have say you dream a lot, and the dreams are often lucid, which is way cool. I've only had lucid dreams two times.

Normally you sleep monophasic, i.e. 8 hours during nighttime. But in a polyphasic schedule you divide your sleep into multiple naps around the 24 hours. I think the uberman schedule is the hardest one, where you are awake 4h, then sleep 20 min, awake 4h, sleep 20min, and so on. This adds up to about 2h sleep per 24h. Polyphasic sleeping is giving you more time awake, and as a side effect, it gives you more dreams during the naps.

Dreams occur during REM sleep, which is cyclical. You remember them when your sleep is interrupted during one of those times, so if you set your alarm something like 30 minutes before you would usually wake up you have a fairly good chance of remembering it. There's actually an iPhone app that somehow scans you during your sleep to find a perfect time to wake you up, you could probably use that to work out the absolute worst time to wake you up instead, that'll give you a memorable dream.

Xiph's snooze method is pretty good for lucid dreaming. If you can allow your body to sleep and keep your mind conscious you'll end up being able to realise you're dreaming and therefore control whatever happens. The problem is that once you realise it you'll usually wake up. You can actually train yourself to do that, only you'll wake up tired because your brain is working the whole time.

Oh, and 123. That happens every time I have a sexdream. I've only finished like twice, and those were both nearly 10 years ago. Grr.
I dream of a world where chickens can cross the road without their motives being questioned.

Yeah, snoozing ftw.

Yesterday morning I was snoozing around noon and heard on the clock radio about the accident that killed the Polish president. Then I fell asleep again and dreamt I was in a car with deployable wings. I was in the passenger seat and the driver next to me started speeding up on this dark road in the middle of a forest to gain lift. It was foggy and rainy. Clearly the dream was inspired by the news :/

Another dream that has been sticking by through my life is a dream taking place around a gravel soccer field close to both my 1st-6th grade school as well as 7th-9th grade school. I'm not doing anything in particular I'm just getting visions of this field and an odd-looking stone wall. That stone wall doesn't even exist (which I should know after going by this field for 9 years), still it is always there. Sometimes I grind (on bmx or whatever I duno, I just grind) on top of a fence connected with that stone wall.

I had 2 odd dreams last night:

1. my aging hair started to grow in. it was white at first, but beyond about 1 inch of hair length it became purple. so i had 1 inch of white hair and the rest a darkish really shiny purple. i was actually quite pleased with the result.

2. i was in my bedroom lying on my bed. i looked out the window and noticed some objects falling from the sky. one object i particularly remember is a beach ball. the other objects are just a blur in my memory. i went outside to see what was happening, and i saw our personal handyman outside clearing the trash (which is odd cause we don't have one irl). apparently all types of weird things have happened here in the past with previous tenants, which caused them to leave the house. that's what our handyman told me. [he was some old fat bald guy with grey hair and about 5'3"]. one incident he told me about was when a past tenant had opened the back door of the house, it appeared inside as if he was looking through the front door. [weird]. this handyman had been working at the house for a long time, so i immediately assumed it was him making weird shit happen [like he was some alien]. i said to him "hey, come over here", leading him to the back door. i opened the door, and i was looking right into the correct room. i said to him "make it look like the lounge room". he looked at me like wtf! but after i stared him down for a while, he sighed. he turned his head to the door, and the room immediately started to shake. he had done it. the back door that normally opened up into the laundry was now opening up into the lounge room. i thought to myself "wow". after this crazy event, he pulled out a gun and got me in a head lock. he was surprisingly strong for an old man. i was struggling to try to get free but i couldn't budge. i tried to reach around the corner of the house as far as i could [cause we were still outside. we hadn't entered the house yet], but only got my head around. i noticed there were a bunch of people just on top of the hill beside the house [that's odd cause there is no hill beside our house irl]. they saw me struggling and started to run down. my head was pulled back around by the handyman. i was waiting for something to happen at this point, but nothing. my dream had appeared to pause for some 10 seconds. then the guys from the hill had come down. they too started to use there secret telekinesis/psychic/alien-like powers to stop this guy.
i woke up.

Last night:
I was being chased by a group of people as I was hiding in some sort of trailer/caravan. I only remember the last part of it, the part where I tried to find a place to stop and make them run by. From 3rd person view I placed (like in some sort of strategy game) the trailer next to another even bigger trailer on some random parking lot.
View back in 1st person. I was back in the trailer pulling down curtains and blocking every window. As I was about to block the last window I see a person's head jumping up and down just outside. I thought "They found me" but it turned out to be Xiphias ( :o ) who apparently wasn't part of the group chasing me. I think I invited him in but I'm not sure, he wasn't in the dream anymore. In my trailer I had a huge Plasma TV which I was watching casually. Then all of a sudden I got visitors, both friends (ones I havent seen for 12 years) and relatives. They were celebrating me for having done studies for 20 years. Don't remember more.

I had a dream tonight:

I dreamt that my friend, ZlesK had his own house and I was visiting him and we were hoylaing computer. It was a dark winters night with snow outside.

While I was playing he was fooling around and all of a sudden he had this random guy (his neighbour) down on all four with his naked back exposed and he was standing with a knife encouraging me to cut his skin off. As if in some sort of trance I went and cut the skin off in small strips from left to right. The neighbour was really scared and crying like you would do if this happened to you, but he was not making any resistance.

Whilst I was doing it ZlesK was satisfied with that he got me to do it and he sat down by his computer, I was completely gone and saw it as a mission to completely strip his back from skin. When I got to the neck I started to come out from the comatic state I was in and I said "there, that's enough" and let him go. I saw him run out the door and trot back to his house through the window. At that point I was completely freaked out and thinking "OMG what the hell have I done?!" The feeling was very real and scary, I felt such a huge feeling of regret and remorse and I remember saying to ZlesK "He can report me for this!!" And ZlesK just went "ye..."

I was totally scared and I felt sick for what I'd done and I was standing by ZlesK's window looking at the neighbours house when I see three guys coming with pitchforks and spears etc. (this image is very clear and so realistic it was scary) and at that point I screamed "shit they're coming to kill me" and I put my running shoes on and ran out the back door. Then I woke up and felt the extreme relief that it had only been a dream...

Well, one problem with that is that dreams are part feelings, too. Otherwise yeah, would be cool.

I had a dream once where I filmed it real-time, and was max disappointed upon waking up when I realized that the camera didn't follow me in the real world.

I wanted to start a blog once about my dream adventures, but eventually feared that dreams would lose power upon sharing. I still haven't made my mind about it, though.

This night there are two dream scenes I currently remember (not writing down their key words upon waking up, I lose up a major part of them): one was that we were in a giant pond in a warm summer day, many people were going left (in our row), the row in face were going to their left also; you would see nice female-breast shapes under their bra, most of them were young, pretty women; we would salute and smile to each other upon passing.

See, that one was pretty indescribable unfortunately, although it could have been shown through a drawing quite effectively, if I knew how to draw. That dream left me with a quite vivid scene image. Do not worry though, my other dream is kind of more describable. I was in the bathroom, and noticed how poor a job shaving I had done in the morning, so I began again with the missing areas. So I began again next to the top hairs at the sides, and noticed after doing so how many hairs were on the blade. I expressed (my godfather was actually with me now in the bathroom) how many hairs were on my face now that I have grown up (I'm 23 but never had that much facial hair in my face like other guys my age do; that's a though I actually had the day prior to the dream, actually). But my godfather expressed that the hairs on the blade were not facial hairs, but actually top-head hairs. I looked in the mirror, and he was right: I must have had misjudged the location of my shaving and shove a part of my top hairs. When I began to stress about whether it would be that seeable and about the possible necessity of wearing a cap on for a few weeks, I saw that the hole was actually quite big (put an average hand-size without the fingers) and that the peripheral hairs were somehow one centimeter elevated from the rest of the skin (which made me look like a physically-ill person). My godfather said a sentence which I vividly remembered upon waking up, but which I have now forgot, just before I noticed how big the hair hole actually was, to the effect of: "no, the hole is actually bigger than you think."

I was in some classy lounge possibly on a large cruise ship when I suddenly entered someone's apartment saying "mi scusi" (italian for "excuse me") walking into their living room.

I also remember I was down in some movie theatre where I was working in my dream. It was time to soon let customer's into the auditoriums (?), the advertising was already rolling but I hadn't loaded a single projector. I was clearly not going to make it in time, and not only this, I also had some sort of appointment to a dentist or something at the same time.

So, themes of last night: Inglourious Basterds, movies in general and fear of not living up to tasks.

I just saw my first lucid dream (woke from it less than 10 minutes ago).

I was in half-awake state. Had probably been woken up by some noise from outside, but kept lying on my back and thinking weird uncontrolled thoughts. I didn't quite realise that I was awake, even though usually at that state I would. Then at one point I sort of fell into one of the thoughts and it became a dream. Instantly I also realised that it was a dream and that I could get out of it. But I couldn't. Then I remembered reading some dreaming forums about lucid dreaming and noticed that this was definitely one...

Tried levitating. It was oddly hard first, probably because my mindset says that something like that probably isn't learned instantly. So I fell on my back a couple of times, but learned it eventually. I tried to fly into some area where I hadn't been before, but knew for certain that it existed. Approaching it, there was just emptiness, but I went on, and I sort of crashed into the empty area and woke up instantly to shaking my head (I didn't consciously choose to shake my head there).

Instantly sat on my computer and came here to write it out. I know that most people (if not all) won't read this post, but I'd forget even such a strong dream if I didn't write it somewhere... So why not on lauta? :)

But... absolutely great experience. I'm going to try to reach that state on command later. :)

Btw anyone else felt while dreaming/being half awake that hands has been really heavy? It's a feeling that I've had several times. Sometimes I can make hands even heavier if I concentrate on doing so. Is this lucid dreaming? :x

No, that's called elma hands. It's a condition known only to a few true hoylas. Ont I can make my entire body feel a lot heavier when I'm relaxed. Sometimes it feels as though the bed will break. o,o

Oh, and LousQ. Will you teach me how to fly? Tenks.

had crazy dream night before last:

this dream was very odd. it was like dreams and reality were switched. so that when we "dream", we're actually returning to the physical world.
it started off like this.

i was walking along a path between 2 steep cliffs (like this "\_/"). there were bumps every now and then; i just walked over them. i kept walking along this narrow path until i came to an opening. this opening was more like a big drop, and the main path i was walking on curved around to the side of the left cliff side. hard to explain this but whatever. anyway... for some reason i decided to go and hang off the edge of this drop. but before pulling myself back up i was thinking "hmm, i wonder what it would be like if i fell". so i intentionally let go and fell. this is the highlight of my dream. the falling. i felt so free. i could feel the wind all over my body. by the way, did i mention this was like a 50000 ft drop atleast? about after a minute of falling and still haven't reached the bottom, i went into a nose dive (head first) and picked up a lot of speed. at this point i was well aware that this was a dream, and i was thinking "i'll just wake up before i hit the bottom". for some reason this X button appeared at the top left of my view. i selected it and a window popped up saying 'do you really want to exit?'. there were 2 options, 'ok' and 'cancel'. i was about to hit 'ok', but i thought "nah there is still some more time to enjoy this before i hit the ground". i was getting kind of close to the ground now. after about 10 seconds, with that window still open, i thought "ok i will exit now". i went to hit the 'ok' button but the whole window disappeared before i could select it. i was like "oh fuck!!!" i hit the X again quickly and that window popped up again and i selected 'ok'. funny thing is by the time i hit 'ok' i was like 2 metres away from hitting the ground. suddenly everything froze and i woke up. after waking up i had this sudden realisation that that dream was real and i had only retreated to a ... (dunno what to call it really (dream world?)). there was this screen beside me now that showed me exactly what i was doing right before retreating from the real world. i looked at it and saw that i appeared to be hovering just above the ground. and then i was like "ah fuck, i've just killed myself". i was trying to figure out how i could return but somehow prevent myself from hitting the ground. but for some crazy reason i chose to go back to sleep and... end of dream.

most exciting dream i've had in a long time. can't wait to have more like this. :D

and as far as flying goes. i've been willingly hovering in my dreams for a few years now. at first i could just float there with about 1 ft distance between my feet and the ground. at the moment though i can regularly get about 2 meters height maximum, but sometimes i can exceed that and go about 10-20 meters (when i'm really lucky). i can fly around really fast too, about 50km/h atleast. i use to fly in my dreams many times during mid2007-early2009. but lately i haven't been having those dreams anymore. but falling 50000 ft is just as fun i guess. :)

Holy shit, what a dream. :D

How often in a dream do you realise that you're dreaming, Leeland? I suppose those times allow for any kind of a dream, imagination being the limit. Thinking of it this way, simple flying is quite boring. :D
then again i don't know anything
maybe easier not to think abouut alöl things thought than not things thought ... or something..=?

Sunday-monday night dreamt that mie pipe cup event had ended. First I owned the whole thing but then, instantly and weirdly, the whole show changed, some russians, which everyone was sure that they were cheaters, just like zordin and vodim but even more similiar nicks and their times were 0,03 away from eachother and next one was some guy from uruguay but not pab. Then there was czech guys and such and i was something like 8th or such :D The weird thing here is that none of MiE members were the ones they really are and none of the players were the same ones.

Also saw a 0,5 or 1 sec dream some weeks ago, me doing hi flyer brutal's beginning stuff, just from apple to the corner of poly.

Creativity in dreams astounds me - especially dreams where concious thought can influence it. i've had a couple of lucid dreams. sadly i can't remember them.

After reading the Leeland's post.

There are few ways to get that kind of dreams with practicing  I haven't practiced it but i've got that kind of dream twice : ) And once i was awake while dreaming, like really awake. Couldn't move my body nor nothing. (sleep paralysis)

I have many dreams every night, and I remember most of them, it's odd but I rarely sleep without dreaming. Maybe that may be caused I sleep too little time, 5 hours on the average. As for lucid dreams, I have them unusually often, from early childhood, I never trained it, it just came. I can say 50 % of my dreams become lucid, sometimes I wake up when realising it's a dream, but sometimes I can control my dream for pretty long time. It's pretty cool, it's like a game where I have unlimited possibilities, I can do whatever I want, and waiting for reactions. Also I have dreams when sleeping in bus, or at school, but those are just short and mostly senseless.

Also I dream often about Elma, recently I had a dream where Zweq took each my wrs. Damn, that was one of the worst elma nightmares ever. :hangover:

The weirdest thing as for dreaming that has ever happened to me was that I woke up and saw my dream continuing on a square picture in front of me ! I was some 8 years at that time I guess. It lasted for a few seconds and I was like WTF 8O . It was some random dream, where I rode on bicycle in some mysterious forest. Never experienced this again. Anyone here did ? 8O
