How long can you hold your breath?

I broke my land record today. 3;12,10. My goal for 2010 was to do over 3mins and 5 secs, I think I will change it to maybe 3 mins and 30 secs though, it's not even summer yet!

I did 2:50 about a year ago on some weekend morning, lying down and totally relaxed. Then started to smoke occasionally and now can only get 1:40 without any preparation.

5:31 last night on tinychat. Dunno how I pulled that off. Plenty of witnesses. :D

I've smoked for some years, just quit 2 days ago. I'm in terrible physical shape and didn't prepare for that (was liek right after a bad attempt). I guess I could reach at least 7 mins.

After playing brass instrument some 6 years i can now hold breath 3-4mins consistently too. Depends how hard i try. 2minutes without feeling breathless.

2min and 10 secs if i remember correct /underwater/... (last try maybe 10 years ago)

I was on 60mg or 90mg oxazepam, can't remember. But yeah, probably had some effect.
