Master Cup 3

Post by jonsterion » 8 Mar 2010, 18:53

Oh yes, The Apple Placers are back... to continue the sequel started back in 2004! Our plans is to have everything done until EOL is released, so you get busy testing and enjoying the new EOL features while playing an oldschool style cup! This should make teamplay in a cup stronger than ever.

Levels by: zebra, jonsta, Ramone, Umiz and a special guest appearence by FinMan.

News regarding the cup will be put into this first post.

There will probably be many participants, since EOL makes cup playing very easy.

Yeah! We try this cup to be one of the first cups played in EOL. It has some risks (bugs (?), EOL release date unknown) but has also many advantaged (easy to participate, easy to arrange). The only thing we should have outside EOL is some kind of interview site... hehe :D

Yes, we will still wait for the final version. My original plan was to start this in september. Let's see if we can make it. I probably have to make some site too, but it would just contain some rules and interviews and such. All results would be in EOL.

I'm starting to test EOL cup functionality now and started a test cup: http://beta.elmaonline.net/?s=stats&p=cup&c=8
Don't take it so seriously, because I'm going to use my old battle levels. Just go and drive a time if you feel so. If this thing works, maybe we will start mastercup 3 in a month or so.

To play in the cup, go to EOL, press ctrl+f8 to select the cup, and then ctrl+f4 to download the level and then go play the level :) Though we are not sure everything works yet.

You can see cup times with shift+f6 if the times are visible. But in cup they are normally hidden. Or what do you think, should they be visible?

Seems to work fine. Ctrl+F8 browses through the cups (this is the only active one at the moment), but I don't know if it could cause an error if your computer's clock is in wrong time? Also when the active cup is chosen you can download the lev with shift+F4, no need to type the name.

Seems that rec saving doesn't work. EOL should save your best time like it does in battle, but it doesn't. So I guess at least that has to be fixed. For now, you should save your recs yourself. But otherwise EOL seems to work ok. And I noticed that I put the deadlines with wrong timezone so they are in the middle of the night. :P

First event is over and the results can be seen there:
http://beta.elmaonline.net/?s=stats&p=cup&c=8&e=7
and there: http://beta.elmaonline.net/?s=stats&p=level&l=69757.
Unfortunately they seem to be quite different. Lots of kuskis are missing from the cup results. Maybe Kopaka knows why? Is there some confusion with time zones for example? Also there are no recs available :( And kuskis with same time or same amount of apples should get equal amount of points.

But what is positive is community's interest in cups. There were totally 72 finishers which is quite a lot!

Lots of kuskis are missing from the cup results.
Maybe that's because some ppl (me included) downloaded the lev with ctrl+f4 and others did actually activate the cup and used shift+f4?
And rofl at Luther's playing time :DDD Though eol probably adds shift+f1 time as playing time, is it true? Because my playing time looks weird too. Well, whatever. Though proper statistics would have been fun to take a look at.

Actually some replay was uploaded to database (maybe it only saves when you make the best time?) but it was a 1 min rec not finising.

Some people wasn't in results because their time was not added to cup times table, only normal times table, dunno why, could be because they didn't have the cup as active when they drove it maybe? we can try test that in next event.

That's also an issue. The Replay Saving Reminder didn't work. At least not for me. Maybe it is because EOL tries to autosave replays (which doesn't work either) and therefore thinks that the reminder isn't necessary and skips it?

Anyways.
I remember that I did not always have the cup active.. but some of my times should still be on the cup list though. Maybe not PR but some random time.

Max weird thing with those recs. When you ctrl+alt+enter on them, they both say it's 18:14 +-0.01. In Kazan's case it's .13 and in memphis case it's .15. But now comes the weird part. Kazan's rec is few bytes bigger than Memhis'. Shoudn't it be the other way round?

no in rec there is one frame (which deskribes where the bike is and the whels and...) every 1/30 sec but also events (turn, volt, take appel, and so on) which can be of any number so kazan might have turned or volted a few more times wich made the recik a bit biger
