Reinstall windows

Post by Bludek »

I'm going to reinstall Windows and I don't know, if I should upgrade to Windows 7 (32 bit) or keep XP and wait for better comp to change OS... I'm a bit afraid that with 7 my comp would be slower. It could also affect elma (high fps needed).

I have:
Intel Core2 duo E6750 2.66GHz
2 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4700 series 512 MB

So what you think guys?

If you would need to buy Windows 7 (32 bit), rather wait until you get a new comp and buy 64 bit instead.

I have original XP cd somewhere and pirate win7 on external HD... I guess it's no problem to have unoriginal win7. I just want smooth work/game place. You guys didn't help at all :( still dunno. Maybe I'll keep xp...

I forgot to mention that I have unoriginal win7 too, dled from somewhere. works perfectly fine, never got any problems concerning anything. you just have to get (or it's the simplest way) Windows 7 Loader. Very quick way to fully activate win7 :)
here is the link:
http://www.fileserve.com/file/FerH5yu
just run the main file and click "Install" in the default mode :) needs a restart as far as I remember :)
Hope I helped

I think my comp is similar too and I have Win7 installed. I'm gonna buy a new one though cause this one's performance is kinda low now (low fps on League of Legends, very low fps in Minecraft (wtf?), can't run Civ5 properly (though this may be caused by something else), I wouldn't buy a new game because I know my comp can't run it, etc.)

Just don't download all the updates if you have an illegal OS. Download merely the necessary ones and it will be fine.

My friend (who's one of the most awesome people I know) installed me Win7 on my good old laptop and he deactivated only one update, but I don't know which one. He said: "There only one update you mustn't do, but if in any case it happens, I can do a little trick and poof, nothing happened."

what you're talking about jon is 1) windows defender, 2) user account control. both are extremely annoying. both are extremely useless. and, both can be turned off ;)
I have them both turned off since I installed windows so it never asks me about anything :)

This actually doesn't happen. The only times I get these types of messages are if I open a program that has the ability to make changes to the computer (install files, configuration files, regedit etc.). Not a huge problem by any means.

Nah, I just meant programs that can change the configuration of other programs or services. Like a cpu fan control program. A bit bad wording there :) Haven't actually tested opening an .ini file.
In day-to-day usage the only times I really notice this message is when installing a new program. You can probably modify the registry without any messages as long as it's not through regedit, but I dunno.
Anyway I guess it's possible to turn off these messages somehow.

One word missed: all. So I meant that I would basically download the security patches and not download those annoying other, useless things.
