Well, yes, there are better Ghibli movies, but movies like Howls', Mononoke, Nausicaa and Totoro don't really fit the mould. Howls' is the only post 2000 movie, even

fellowship of the ring is pretty good, the two towers and return of teh nab plain suck. in teh book battles were(obviously) not 50% of the entire fucking content, maybe 1%. it's so tiresome to watch some battle for 1 hour and some max lame cliche jokes inbetween. although I admit that even in teh book legolas/gimli were pictured overpowered, picking eachother / joking about the numbers of Orccs they killed. The whole trilogy in a way did a massive fail leaving tom bombadil completely out, because in the book the impression you get about teh character is that he'd outnab sauron

I know I've said this in numerous places, but I can't express enough the hardon I have for the "wise" character, often a hermit, that seems to exist in everything story that's good. The one that kinda shows up randomly and gives the main characters advice then just disappears only to reappear again when you least expect it. Seriously. This character, in this case Bombadil, is the one I'll remember after having finished the book.
