Impressive Gameplay Videos

Post by 8-ball »

Let's have a thread for videos of gameplay that you think is impressive.
I would say they should be impressive even to people who haven't played the games by themselves and should showcase an immense amount of skill / luck / and overall impressiveness.

Let me begin with a few videos off the top of my head that I was impressed by:

Worms Armageddon - amazing roping and skill shot compilation
Quake Live - QuakeCon 2010 Duel Grand Final
Quake Live - unbelievable comeback in a pro duel (watch all 3 parts)
World of Goo - 53 mins speedrun in a single sitting
May Payne in 42 minutes
Quake Done Quickest movie
Punaball (TurboSliders football mod) - best goals compilation, makes Haxball look shit :P

Daigo is down to almost no HP at all. Justin executes an attack that usually, even when parried, damages the opponent slightly. Easily enough to kill Daigo in that case anyway. However, Daigo manages something called a "full parry", which is when you parry and press back at the exact right moment. If you do it perfectly (which is extremely hard) you won't lose any HP. This is exactly what he did, and this is why the crowd went nuts. Check the end of the video again and you'll see.

This one was actually fun, haven't seen teh earlier even though was following kimo's demos from time to time. I've tried recording wolf3d myself, but omg strafe50 (term from doom, dunno how it's called here. It's when you strafe by pressing strafe button + pressing alt and directional movement button which make you strafe too. This results in much faster than regular strafing, but impsy to control since you can't turn while you're doing that) in this game is so goodamn fast and impossible to control i've got frustrated and gave up with that idea :p very nicik.

Some shots from a three-time Jippii World Champion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp4iL9WK ... redirect=1

Also something from Aapeli: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpL3NVqd ... redirect=1 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcgAFRFX ... re=related

Unfortunately there doesn't exist anything like recs in Jippii nor Aapeli minigolf (and unfortunately the whole Jippii doesn't exist anymore...), so over 99% of the cool stuff that happens in there will not be seen ever again. For example I have recorded my golfing only very very little. Imagine if you had like tree recs from your whole elma career. Anyways there's few glimpses from the minigolf scenes.

if you're gonna use segments and glitches, people have certain expectations. You even got lost during the run what the fuck? Most of the pace was achieved by lucky seed (I assume you had to test it for quite a while though). The only cool thing for me was making the nether portal without mining any obsidium, so I guess we don't have to ban you for offtopic.

Speedrun of the first three missions in Turok 2 single segment. Some glitches, many mistakes towards the end, I'll get better at it. Expect a full game run soon.

A segmented speedrun (10 segments) takes a little more than 26 minutes to beat the first two missions, I took 27:52 single segment. Third mission was a first attempt though. And the second mission was a ~4th attempt.

I'd say the worse someone is at other things, the bigger the chances are they're good at something else. He hasn't spent that much time hoyling elma just because he was hoyling other games and getting better at them instead. Your logic is flawed.
