I am max looking forward to GAA final show at IRC! Last year it was sick cool. I would love to see more new names in levdesigner category tho, but nvm. I get it, there is not only EOL and quickly made balles are not so valuable.

Designer category is kinda tricky because it varies what people value, it's the same as having only "kuski" category when it comes to playing. I don't think TL has made any other levs except battle levs, but still he has a shot at winning the GAA.

Interesting stat: The 5 nominees for "Style" are the 5 internal styles, all 5 external styles were eliminated.

i'm not disagreeing with the fact that an internal style almost all the time will have more value than a style created for an external. but saying that people play more internals than externals is just so unbelievably far from the truth. don't know how you get to that. the only times where more people are in internals than externals on eol is when there's a massspying of some pros wr attempt.

I can see how people value internal styles more, but I think they're overdoing it in this style GAA category. Compare a little improvement in the start of Headbanger to Lazy's MC303 rec full of cool tricks, and internal wins? It's not that I don't appreciate internals, but that MC303 was really wicked.

Also it's odd that MC303 was not in top 5 for level category. Cup level, top 3 within 0,16 and totally different styles. I guess it was a fierce best level competition this year.

That's odd ye. Let's just hope these things are not caused by people being too lazy to download levels.

It's hard to appreciate a lev/rec not having (properly) hoyled the lev before. And how many participated in MC? I guess a bit less than ever played all the ints, J-sim.

I feel like the external scene has always been inferior to internal scene, in GAA and everything else too. It's a shame, but it is defined by the community as a whole.

protip: learn your timezone compared to GMT. Your timezone is CET, which is GMT+1. If the gaala takes place at 20:00 EET (GMT+2) that means for you it takes place at 19:00 CET

And remember - summer time gives +1 relative to GMT in all time zones. Hence CEST (central european summer time) is then GMT+2 (us), finland etc (EEST) are GMT+3 and united kingdom is GMT+1 (yes, really).

Most 5-pointers from the community in the Third Step went to Spef for Rookie, with 32 5-pointers (a new record!).
Most votes for one candidate from the community in the Third Step went to Markku for Battler and Spef for Rookie, with votes from 34 people.
Most points for one candidate from the community in the Third Step went to Spef for Rookie, with 167 points (a tie for the record).
Both Kazan for Internalist and SPEED for Team managed to retain their awards from last year.

Speeches:

Start speech:

[19:00:31] * SveinR sets mode: +m
[19:01:23] <SveinR> 20:00 EET Greetings, welcome to the 9th annual Golden Apple Awards!
[19:01:33] <SveinR> This channel is +m so only operators and voiced people will be able to talk, use #across for free talk. Stupid nick changes will result in a ban.
[19:01:48] <SveinR> The are 16 categories and five candidates in each category. The candidates have been chosen by the jury and the community, click here for more info: http://mopolauta.moposite.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8448
[19:02:02] <SveinR> The jury consists of six members: Haruhi, Kopaka, Madness, Markku, niN, and Ville_J. SveinR is the organizer.
[19:02:24] <SveinR> The winners are determined by community votes and jury votes. In the event of a tie, community votes matter.
[19:02:24] <SveinR> If I get disconnected and won't come back for an hour, the show will be postponed to the same time tomorrow.
[19:02:31] <SveinR> -----------------------------------------------------
[19:03:04] <SveinR> Alright, so now that that's been taken care of, we move on to the first category of the evening!

01. Internalist, Kazan

[19:05:35] <SveinR> He does not seem to be present
[19:06:11] <SveinR> Apparently he is busy in EOL :)
[19:06:27] <niNzedsh> good man, working hard to get wrs while you lazy asses is here watching this show!
[19:06:31] <Haruhi> Hoyling internals, as usual.
[19:06:57] <Madness> True internalist!
[19:07:33] <SveinR> We move on with the show, and if Kazan shows up he can give his speech

02. Externalist, Jeppe

[19:11:45] <SveinR> Jeppe does not seem to be present either
[19:12:12] <SveinR> Well, like with Kazan, he can give his speech later
[19:12:28] <SveinR> Congratulations anyway :)

03. Battler, Markku

[19:17:03] <Markku-> Thanks! No battle on right now so I have time to give a speech.
[19:18:06] <Markku-> Well, I'll keep it short... Thanks to the level makers, particularly the ones who keep on designing first finish levs. Also, excellent that the mopobattles are starting again, looking forward to more of them!

04. Rookie, Spef

[19:21:24] <niNzedsh> Spef is not present atm, if he joins later he can give a speech then
[19:21:42] <niNzedsh> A wonderful kuski that one, gives the scene a nice breath of air

05. Designer, TL

[19:27:14] <Kopaka> he's not here either it would seem
[19:27:53] <Kopaka> but grats to him, he certainly has brought something a bit different to level designing

06. Team, SPEED

[19:30:56] <Madness> Thanks everyone for your votes :)
[19:31:22] <Madness> Also thanks to all of our teammates for keeping our team alive
[19:32:12] <Madness> I love you :*
[19:32:22] <Madness> Labs say something! :D
[19:33:05] <Labs_> thanks
[19:33:18] <Labs_> :*
[19:33:37] * berh was kicked by Madness (:D)
[19:33:46] <Labs_> xD

07. WR, Kazan

[19:38:53] <Madness> He seems not to be present...

08. Style, Kazan and anpdad

[19:43:52] <anpdad> o,o
[19:44:04] <anpdad> didnt really expect that, i'll try to say something.
[19:44:28] <anpdad> i'd like to say that romy4 is the main guy behind all rus ah brainstorming and he's the one
[19:44:43] <anpdad> who started it all. Then others joined and in the end everyone contributed some trick.
[19:45:02] <anpdad> i'm glad to see that both my little improvements were realized by Kaz in the real wr ride, thanks to him for that :)
[19:45:32] <anpdad> and we'll try to keep rockin' next year!
[19:45:52] <anpdad> also thanks)

11. Contest, Zebra

[20:00:07] <zebraTAP> thanks :)
[20:00:14] <zebraTAP> I have a speech for you
[20:00:31] <zebraTAP> Thank you for choosing Mastercup 3 :) Thanks to everybody who played it and who voted for us. It was nice to organize the cup and I hope that you liked it as well. And it's good to be back too. In 2006 Mastercup 2 won GAA contest award. And now, only 5 years later, Mastercup 3 wins the same award. :)
[20:00:37] <zebraTAP> We were a bit lucky too because we managed to arrange it just before save/load patch was leaked. Maybe it will be the last normal cup, maybe not. Anyway, team TAP surely continues to make some levels and arrange some contests in the future. What they will be? Nobody knows. At least mopobattles are now starting again. I hope we will see you there!

And once again, huge congratulations to all the winners!
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?
