For me too 602 has been the only one enjoyable enough to hoyl enough to get an actual time relative to my skill level. Pretty much all the others have had max orka annoyage moves that have killed the fun. 606 seems oke fun but with my (non)skills in piping doing the best routes/styles is too much of a pain in the ass so again orka.

i couldn't say it better, roope.

the annoying spots can definitely kill the mood to play the lev, at least for me. it seems like the levs are so overdesigned to include the annoying spots, so the lev seems "harder" for the sake of getting good winning replay, which should not be the main point for the lev being in the cup, because you need to imagine the lev is being played by 100 people. i'm not saying every lev should be like warm up, but deliberately making some spots annoying is not the right way to go (e.g. end in 601, start in 604).

Yes I mean WCup606 of course. Everything is way too hard, if I will hoyl this level I will spend 95% of hoyltime in first 10-15 seconds of the level, no matter what first shortcut I decide to take. And everything from there is hell.
And Ramone said he will possibly take another pipe event in world cup 6... Just don't, please.

Code: Select all

08:04:40 < Tisk> i guess pies in this lev are just inevitable
08:05:24 < Tisk> if you want to have so hard shortcuts that you don't know
which is worth using, then the shortcuts just have to be
                 ridiculously hard
08:06:39 < Tisk> like if the first pipe straight down was obviously doable but
just hard there would be no point trying anything else
08:07:01 < Tisk> well maybe it is to some one
08:08:20 <@ville_j> im suar someone can mayke it
08:08:29 <@ville_j> at sure if anyone orka try though
08:08:29 < Tisk> only bad thing it's no fun to play
08:08:36 <@ville_j> yesh
08:10:13 < Tisk> so many possibilities in this lev, too bad they're all hard
08:10:30 < Tisk> even the quite slow easy styles are fucking hard
08:11:03 < Tisk> only the really slow styles are playable :P
08:11:05 <@ville_j> and many mongo places where a minor mistake will get u

The level is equally hard for everyone. Just play the level and do your best, because whining won't change a thing anyway.

Remember, this is the world cup! Just because you've been spoiled by 20 min balle levs doesn't take away from the fact that you have an entire fucking week to play this level. Just do your best (or worst, I don't care), and quit whining.

What I'm saying is people keep complaining about hard levels, when I say there are no "easy" levels in elma, and that every level has the potential to be hard: Hi flyer is hard if you're going for left-first style; Animal farm is hard if you're going for fast octo; This level is hard if you're going for all pipe shortcuts. Heck, I've never even finished Flat Track with the 14.xx style, and I've spent way more time on that lev than I have on this current one. Doesn't that make Flat Track a "hard" level?

Adjust yourself to the level, and play your best with the best style you can manage. Not everyone can do a ramp brutal just like not everyone can do the pipe shortcuts in this lev. That's what elma is all about. Doing the best you can. So fucking go out there and do your best, be it with impsy styles or the regular one.

Yes I don't think anyone has any trouble understanding that. It doesn't change the fact that I think it is a shit event because it is about pipe shortcuts. Anyways I've been playing it more than 5 previous events so I am fucking going out there and doing my best!!1

I approve of any level more or less and i am in tune with igge and ramone on the mentality that its the same for everyone, some levels should be hard etc etc here's your chance to see what your skills are made of etc etc, but I can totally understand why this lev kills the motivation for most.

For a non-piper with non existant pipe skills such as myself, i think really narrow and bendy 45 degree pipes, even if they are short, are way way WAY harder than lets say if you compare to the previous pipe events in world cups. Just "trying" to enter most pipes is a true adventure and i get bored and angered of just knowing that this is the EXACT spot i will die 10000000 times.

I personally think these narrow but short pipes are the most "boring" in all of what elma has to offer because it abruptly halts the run or kills it. When people play long cruise FF battles and there is an unexpected trap or death spot people get REALLY mad right? Its the same concept here i believe. Narrow pipes = deathspots and it kills playability and ruins the pace. Such things provoke anger.

Challenge factor/Difficulty factor, such things are all in order here. Fun factor? I think there is where most people fall short. This level will most likely be the most boring one i'll ever play and certainly the most painful. When you force yourself to do something that isnt fun and something that is painfully hard at the same time, of course people will complain about it. Doesnt mean that anyone is "wrong", but doesnt mean its the cups/levels fault either or anyones fault for that matter. It is what it is, and its the same for everyone so now we're back at the beginning with that mentality again, so thats why i still approve of this level.

I'm sure pretty much everyone felt the same about KingCup 02. That pipe was so hard only dz managed to finish with it, and that's what makes the level such a legendary one. The thing is you don't have to finish with the pipe shortcuts if you don't want to, or if you feel you're unable to. All they do is they're just there teasing you.

But still, you know the sense of satisfaction you'll feel when you actually do finish...

The WCup606 lev is actually quite interesting. I spent whole night spectating there and what I noticed is that my wheels rotate all by themselves! I didn't press anything during the whole 20 hour spectating session and here is the result:

Instantly after restart the situation is this:

What is causing the rotation?

thats probably a numeric fail, as both Juski and PETA had same time (32,49), but PETA gained 1 point, Juski got 0,5 points. Hilarious is, that Juski is ranked higher than PETA, even he has less points than him :D

Seems to be an occasional bug with apple counting in the replay on the site, if you have wrong number of apples please let me know before deadline if you can.
