World Cup 7 has started, deadline on sundays 20 EET

Post by Kopaka »

Elasto Mania World Cup 7 starts today.

Check out http://wcup.site/events to see the schedule of the events
EOL Cup page: http://elmaonline.net/statistics/cups/10

If you are completely new to world cups check the quick intro below. For anyone who's played a world cup before it will be very familiar, yet with a couple of new things happening. A lot of the feedback we saw regarding the format of the cup was boiled down to two things, a wish for the cup to be a bit shorter, and a wish to see something new. Based on this we have 3 events that are a bit different that the usual one level a week which we hope will accomplish this. There will still be 15 events like last time, however we have 2 events that last only half a week and 1 event that last for the entirety of the cup alongside the other events. This means the entire cup will last for 13 weeks, from today to May 21st. The two half week events gives us an opportunity to have some shorter levels, these will happen in the same week lasting 4 and 3 days respectively so we're back to having deadlines on sundays after these two. The long event is meant as something you can fall back on when you get tired of the current event and want something maybe a bit more relaxing, and it gives extra excitement at the end with 2 events ending.

If you are new to cups in elma they work like this:
Each sunday a new level is released (with 2 exceptions as mentioned above) on http://wcup.site/events
You have one week to play this level (do it online in EOL).
Upload the replay on http://elmaonline.net/statistics/cups/10 before deadline.
Results will be published 30 minutes after the deadline in IRC/discord first and then on the website.
Top 50 get from 100 to 1 points, everyone else 1 point. Overall best score wins the cup.
Your worst result will be removed. (aka. 1 skip)
Check also the wiki page on EOL Cups http://wiki.elmaonline.net/Website_Help:_Cups which explains things like hiding yourself.

It is highly recommended to play hidden in EOL, even if you think your style is obvious it can be a huge help for someone else to see it, and will give people who were randomly online at the time an advantage.

I really like the 3 month event idea (lev looks scary tho :o) and the fact that there are some shorter events. The first stage seems very exciting too: I'm already addicted to it and even saw it in my dream this night. Cup is very promising so far, no disappointments anywhere. Now just need zweq and other mans to play seriously enough.)

Judging from the website (mouse-browseable levels), the levels look awesome -- especially the last, big event.
All bounces are equal, but some bounces are more equal than others.

Couple things to keep in mind I thought I'd mention, since a few people ran into issues with this in the last event.
  • times must be played online
  • you can check if you time has been recorded by eol on http://elmaonline.net/statistics/cups/10/mytimes under "Your WCup702 times" these are all the times you've driven online
  • above under "My Times" you can see the replays you've uploaded
  • use the above tools to double check your time is valid, there's must be a time recorded in eol and a replay uploaded
  • be proactive regarding bug bounces, if it's clearly a bug don't upload replay, if in doubt make sure you upload second best as well and let someone know (Kopaka, Markku or ville_j)

So long without any post :|

I sent my rec for each WC event and none appears in results... (no mater for 2 points  )
For the first event I did it 5 minutes before the dead line so I thought it was the reason but for the second I sent it saturday.

Then I realized I played with player "Loevan" on EOL but I sent my replays with "Coco" account...
Is there a control between the rec sent, the account name used and EOL times archived ?

Thx

Kopoka : I will check your controls tonight...

There is no check done upon uploading replay that checks wether that time is driven by the user uploading it. That's only done at end of event when generating results. So you'll have to make the checks as mentioned above.

Made the checks with Coco account :
- under "my times", I have the right times for both first events
- under "your WCup703 times"... nothing

Connected with Loevan account :
- uploaded the rec for event3
- work perfect : both checks are ok

So every thing is ok !

This event (705) uses the apple bug at the start, which means it can be finished without taking all apples. This is intended. You need to take just 38 apples as specified in start of level (when apple count reaches 53 you can touch flower). You can also send unfinished replays, in which case amount of apples will count as your result.

wow; nice event #06! zweq grabs his first top-podium on a single event, which puts him ahead of the competition, in terms of overall standings, with 515 points.

tight #2 to #4 in the global standings, too: zero (458); talli (455); and kazan (450).

winner rec: http://www.recsource.tv/r/beqnovaysh
kazan with 3rd position, nice rec but still a whole second slower than zweq's run!: http://www.recsource.tv/r/juatcvnlqk

both look very hoyled. nice lev to hoyl!

interviews will sure be interesting. keeping tuned on my end, as usual!

This could be your last chance to play a world cup gravity level for the next few years. Get online and play WCup707! Also remember that WCup715 is going on throughout the cup, and after next event, WCup709 and WCup710 will be half week events, so plan accordingly! See the schedule on http://wcup.site/events

Yeah, my initial reaction was NO NO NO because gravity usually makes me fail so much, but here it is surprisingly comfortable and doesn't seem to require extraordinary tricks (perhaps top recs will prove me wrong). So I enjoy the level now.

Couple of new faces in top 3 of event 10, but Zweq takes his third win. With four weeks left it's time for the home stretch, 500 points still left to fight for means anything can happen (16 people can still win the cup). This week we're back to normal 1 week events, with a level by 8-ball. But don't forget WCup715, which ends together with WCup714 in four weeks.

Somehow the winrec by adi doesn't exist on recsource's front page, I had to try to upload it to be able to find it

http://www.recsource.tv/r/osnmalfktv

Mine and Madness recs are not fixed yet, and adis rec is also uploaded by "anonymous" without tags, they are not searchable.

The application/rec file_type you see in the message wasn't in the list of allowed types. This type depends on which program the .rec's are bound to on your computer, and since it's not bound to elma itself it can be many different ones.

It's also the highest average score, if we take into account how many points were available (2000 points for 20 levs in wc3, 1400 points for 15 levs - 1 skip in wc7). I would probably still say Luni's wc3 performance is the best wcup ever though, where I think he got as many as 8 wins.
