Imo rating should be 1/10 scale. 1/5 is too small scale for rec rating. Anyone agrees??

Yeah this totally struck my mind two days ago axxually. In the beginning when there were not so many recs, 5/5 was enough, but now there are so many and I can feel many 5/5 recs are better than other 5/5 recs.

Or perhaps people need to start using the full scale? Currently I don't see any recs rated below 3 on the main page (not counting zeros since that means noone voted).

I was thinking about this too. If you've been giving 5 stars for recs and then you see something you want to rate even better, that means you haven't been using the scale properly.
That being said, I also would prefer the RYM scale (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.5 etc.) or 1 - 10, since it allows for more subtle differences (at least that's useful in other mediums like anime and music, dunno if it's as easy to rate recs so specifically). In the current 1 - 5 system, especially with the descriptions every rating has (2 = orka, 3 = oke etc.) there isn't much room for accuracy. I have to choose between 4 and 5 for something I would give 4.5.

Maybe there should be only thumb up (and maybe down) or could add reactions. It's just too autistic to rate all recs.

I've used rym for 8 years and I use there whole scale (for me 3.0 is good). But in elma I would never use the whole scale. For example giving !rec 7 or worse for battle winning rec could be seen as insult.

Maybe 1.0 should already mean "OK/decent"? So like, when you see a bad rec, you are just like "not worth my attention" and don't even rate it. And when you give any rating at all, that means that you found at least something likeable about it. I mean, is anyone really interested in comparing crappy recs to each other? Does it matter at all that one shit rec is rated 1.6 and another shit rec is rated 2.2? Does anyone benefit from that? I would argue not really. So maybe only positive ratings are of some interest.

imo it needs share scale near 5.

something like:
1
2
3
3,5
4
4,5
4,75
4,875
4,9375
5

because if there is good rec, there could be very good rec and very very good rec

and only "5" (or "9" and "10") isn't enough.

I kinda agree with actually all of these posts. Rating scale was discussed at least at the very beginning when recsource was released. Back then I believed 1-5 should be enough, but now I also do find myself wanting more options. Thumb up / thumb down would also work, because many times I find myself just either liking the rec or not really and orka think it more, then would be ez choice between those two. I don't really rate many recs atm because it feels a bit hard decision. Also removing of the labels (shit, orka, oke, najs, sik) was discussed because those might also affect on how people use the whole scale. Also I agree there should be more options to rate recs on the upper scale, because yeah, if rec is bad it is bad and no one really cares about it, but when it's good there are more levels of goodness. So yeps I don't know, this is definitely something that might need a change in the (near) future, but not sure how yet so keep on voicing your opinion.

Why would that be seen as an insult? It means the rec was good, but not perfect.

Imo:
!rec 1 = shit
!rec 2 = very bad
!rec 3 = bad
!rec 4 = below-average
!rec 5 = average
!rec 6 = quite okay
!rec 7 = good
!rec 8 = very good
!rec 9 = close to perfect
!rec 10 = perfect

I am all the way for 1-10 scale on recsource too.

I agree that scale would be better with 1-10 and i think this idea would show even better the votes of people.
Also nowadays we can see on Top Rated recs with 5pts only with a few votes and in the same list recs with 5pts but with 10, 15, 20 votes. Showing the amount of votes on main page (blue square i drew) will definitely show a big difference imo. Of course it is not the same thing recs with 5pts with one voter and another one with 5, 10 or more voters.
Just an idea...

in diving & gymnastics osv you get rate for diff areas like execution or style or whatever, maybe something like that would be cool to add. like some recs are very unhoyled but super cool style and vice versa

Maybe should be two seperate ratings, one for style and one for execution.

Back in the day I always saw Zweq as the guy for insane styles and John as the guy for flawless execution. It may be a cool idea, not sure how much people would bother though to do the two ratings with some brain in mind.

If we want to rate 2 things by one click then we have to use 2D rate scale.
Look at my pics (execute=execution xD my mistake) ofc there can be diif scale, not 1-5.

What about about having two different rating systems?

A basic upvote/downvote for quick rating and a more specific way to rate which could be done together with commenting. It could include 1-5 or 1-10 ratings in such aspects as Style, Execution and Entertainment Value.

In the latter one I would also prefer to see the nick of the person who rated and/or commented to lessen the amount of ratings that are given purely for the sake of trolling

It could include 1-5 or 1-10 ratings in such aspects as Style, Execution and Entertainment Value.
then, it should be divided: separately entertainment, separately style, separately execution. cant think of 4-th, but these 3 must be exactly.
And it needs to create 3 different top lists, by these criterions.

and imo there isn't good selection in top. Where are recs with lot of votes and 4,8 and 4,7 rating? =/

And there is strange system of search. I tried to found roope's rec in warm-up with roof touching. no results.
But, at least, now search is working fast and its nice)
In the latter one I would also prefer to see the nick of the person who rated

Many people have reported this recently, I haven't done any changes to the code so I guess it's some FF update that causes it. Maybe I could try to check if there is any obvious reason for this though. Mobile FF has always been unusable, maybe they migrated their code =)

Yeah, I reported it on discord a few days ago. Leaks RAM completely for me, but strangely it doesn't show up as firefox ram usage - no process has increased usage, yet up to 15/16gb are used up. Any ideas ville? Also seems to be much worse in levels with lots of picture textures, if this is any hint, but happened in loopdeloop yesterday too. When it gets really bad it can crash me ff.

I have an idea of a feature that would be pretty useful to implement.
*If a kuski adds a comment to a replay that he/she did not upload, he/she will get a notification when a new comment is added for that replay. (Or it could exist a button for following comments on that replay.)

Which means that if I comment on another persons replay, I will get a notification of when someone else answers me or adds another comment.

I can see there is now a new World Cup going on.

Quick idea:
Auto hide replays for the world cup levels so people don't accidentlly share styles, or people with bad intentions share styles :P
As soon as the event is over all replays become public again.

Or else I can provide images in any format.

Image names are hardcoded in the replay player code so I don't think I can easily do this. Or I could start fiddling with the code but since it is kinda external lib made by Max I don't want to change it because the changes would get reverted when he makes some changes and I update the player.

Auto-hiding wcup recs might work but then again this would require changes on several places and all kinds of timestamp defining and checking etc I'm not sure if it is worth it, just don't upload wcup recs before the event is over pls xd

This is definitely a good idea and has been on the to-do list from the start, so it is coming some time I believe. I've been a bit busy with other things again and haven't really put any effort on implementing new features to recsource, but maybe I'll get around doing something if you just persistently nag about it =)

Imo it's quite a reasonable and potentially useful suggestion.

I do agree though that it should be off by default (if it is ever done, of course). Then maybe some sound button in the bottom player bar for sound-nerds.
