Avatars are small images (usually 64x64) that users can have under their nick.
This board supports avatars but the option is disabled.
I don't think it will increase loading times much...

If you have modem, and the avatar is animated, and about 50 kb, it will.
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?

hummm... buy a decent ISP!!!!
Avatar size (in kbs) could be limited....
It's much easier browsing through an "avatars enabled" board...

Is it? I think it's pretty much the same. But some avatars are cool.

I would disable the signature pictures too if it was possible. I should replace all these "Edit", "Quote" etc. pictures with text but it's too much work.
Reason: heavy loading / viewing.

Mopolauta is a part of Moposite :-). Usually there are more stuff (mainly text) in normal Moposite page than in Mopolauta pages.

I know that..
You only have to wait for loading times once. Images are then in the temporary internet files and load instantly..

Some don't want all those temporary internet files. And as far as I know, only IE uses them (correct me if I'm wrong, I don't really know much
)
Anyway, I don't really care about this matter.

You have four possibilities with this phpBB board:
1)No Avatars
2)Avatars, uploaded on the site.
3)Avatars linked from elsewere
4)Ranked avatars: like they were used at simcitycentral.net

Elaborate please...
I think I mentioned this earlier, the best option would be if you could toggle if you want to view the avatars; and use only external linking.

Over two years since last discussion concerning avatars.
I wouldn't mind them. They give more 'life' to the forum and to the posts. What do you guys think? A small sized avatar doesn't hurt modern bandwidth almost at all and Abula got rid of the 56K so what are the issues left?
I'm for avatars.

I'm for avatars too, I can't see any reason why they should be disabled.
As dz said it would bring more life to the forum.

Ok, lets try them then. 80x80 and 6kB are the limits. And you must upload it to Mopolauta. See your profile for more information.

It would be very fair now to forbid any pictures in the signature. At least I think so.
