Here is a FF lev I started working on recently. It will be a cruise with some slightly tricky spots. I'm trying to take it slow so I can make each part unique and interesting.

I'm working on a new LGR that turns the grass into snow. I looked at some LGRs with snow and noticed that no one has added to the QUP and QDOWN images, but simply edited the existing images. I'm expanding the grass images to be wider and more appropriate for snow, and filling out all 99 slots (shit gets steep!). In the image you can see I have made curvy edges for the first ten of each QUP and QDOWN images. The steeper/sharper edges are just a template to work from (I haven't finished), but maybe spikey snow could work too. What do you think?

That spiky snow does not work in this case, imo, but those curvy edges are lookin great!

I don't know. I'm just working on the snow atm. If I do make a winter LGR it'll need to have a non-default colour palette.

Here is an update. I haven't finished all the segments yet, as you can see on the steeper parts.

I planned on making some of the curves hang lower than others to add more variety.
There is a big problem with my snow though. When Elma renders grass, it does so from left to right, which means that the left edge is always going to be perfect where the grass polygon was placed. The game picks the next appropriate grass image and draws the whole thing, even if it passes the right edge of the grass polygon. This matters very little with the default graphics as the default images aren't very wide, but with my snow, because the images are a lot wider, there's a high chance for it to extend pass the right edge by quite a bit. In fact it is quite common. Take a look at this image from Tunnel Terror as an example:

I think some mans mentioned this earlier about the elma.online rec player.

Moving on...
sunl wrote: 8 Feb 2017, 05:54 Presumably for the smoothest grass you'd want 49 up grass pcxs of different angle, 49 down grasses, and 1 flat grass. That way there is most choice but tbh I don't know much more than what I just said so I'm just speculating
Actually, now that I understand how the game handles grass, you only need 1px wide images for each px increment in height.
Like this:

And with just a handful of small images, we can get pixel perfect flat grass; and steep too.

I'll come back to the snow LGR and make the segments smaller, perhaps using the widest default segment as an upper limit. I don't know how this will impact the aesthetics of the snow. We'll see...

There is information on how grass works here. Maybe it's hard to understand without pictures or a direct example?

I think the more uneven grass looks great a lot of the time, nice job though. Would still use the default one myself, I'm sure I'm not alone with this. 8O

Working on the next episode of Elasto Mania Legends and working on a new batch script that makes video making much more comfortable. I already have a batch script for replay rendering workflow, this new one is for the remaining steps: adding overlays (main title, current level/kuski name etc.) and joining separate replay videos into a final video.
Now all the video editing is made automatically with ffmpeg, any further video editing software is unnecessary. (Only need to add some background music, it seems easier to do in normal editor though).

Excerpt from the script I nabbed by basically googling all the batch and ffmpeg commands :D
