if you mean bouncing, then there's different ways, but you have to apply pressure to at least one of your tires, and then if everything goes well pressing brake should make you jump. (maybe  to problems section ?)

Yes...but you have to have pressure on the wheel. F.ex. the bounce on Apple Harvest (not everyone bounces there though, some jumps) is on a flat ground, but the wheel gets pressure from the drop.
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?

and you can do the BrutalVolt on flat ground...
here's a replay including bounce on flat ground and BrutalVolt (bounce first).

here is some volts too made in gravity ride..

-first some non-flat little bounce back

-then drop + normal bounce to air

-then using the gravity and immediately making kinda brutal volt without speed

- then getting air from the wall. backflipping from the wall

- then backflip on flat

- then normal brutal volt followed by another brutal.. so i guess its elite double brutal compo.. BUT not the double brutal volt..in double brutal volt u actually should spin 2 frontflips in one jump.

- then died

http://members.lycos.co.uk/onlainari/files/brutdemo.rec 2 backflips on flat

[/brag] well..they are easy and everyone can pull these out..just sorted out for fun :) BTW: does that backflip on flat have some specific name ?

Nothing wrong with this topic, actually, I think this is an interesting topic indeed, because bouncing is the trickiest move in the game, and it surely needs some explanation before understanding how it works.
And about #across.. not everyone can connect to an irc-server
