who invented.......

Post by bob »

I've always wondered who invented/started these things in elma/across:

- The Bounce
- Bug Bounce
- Sedge Grass in Externals
- Pipe Levs
- Auto Levs
- Invisible Polygons in Externals
- Tags
- First Team

...hmmm, probably a couple more that i forgotten. Does anyone else have anymore to add?

Well, similar things have been done before, but mostly related to styles on specific levels and such.

The Bounce: That's been around for a long time. The Lab Pro bounce is pretty old after all (I know that Jokke didn't bounce in the beginning), and I'm sure bounces were used before that too.

Bug Bounce: You mean "fly to the roof/across the level at 5000 mph" bounces? I don't think anyone's "invented" those, obviously. :)

Sedge Grass in Externals: I've never seen that. Can you tell me a level that has this?

Pipe Levs: The first pipe level was The Pipe by PeXi, the first of the kind of levels that we call pipe levels today was Impossibility by Abula. Both can be found in the Contests section on Moposite.

Auto Levs: I don't know who invented it, but I know that I hate him.

Invisible Polygons in Externals: See above.

Tags: You mean like writing your name in the level? I dunno, Blake maybe. Could be older than that too, I have no idea.

First Team: Damn, I'm not sure. EMT maybe.

Several levs have this, I can't believe you haven't seen that. Most likely you misunderstood or something... I bet you can find it on several LOMs for instance. Maybe you've used only HighQ.lgr for too long :)
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?

Alot of these things have not been invented by one guy. Ect. I think many made invisible polygons without having seen it on another lvl, I know I did.

OK, let's make it clear once and for all:
"Sedge grass" is when you put sedge pictures near a polygon so that only the tips of it is visible, which makes it look like grass.

Like this:

(OMG, I can't believe some you guys don't know what sedge grass is)
<Fihlvein> another case of zworqy-is-always-right closed i guess

That´s it....I guess....just think of the straight line as the polygon and the triangles as the upper thingie of the picture sedge :)

aaaaaaah ok n_n thanks zworqy
Its when you choose the sedge pic and you put only half image (the leaves) in the air, and the green zone into the ground, you only look the leaves and its similar to grass

I know that both invisible polygons and auto levs were made by mongos already back in 1998. Hard to say who was first though, check those "nice" csaba levpacks.

I'm not sure was I the first one, but I made a test level trying out the pic possibilities in 11. february 2000, and that included the sedge grass (also that tree shaped polygon behind tree picture trick), but those things have been invented by so many guys by themselves.
sorey, no solutions today

<8-ball>

1) I like sedge grass and I use it quite a lot in my levs, it is best on "jungle" style levs.
2) Invisible polygons are really horrible on stupid levs, where u can`t understand anything at all.
3) Juish, can u give the link of your "p0p" lev and replay of that trick?
4) I also use "tags" in my levs sometimes, if it is my name on the lev.
