Corrupted state.dat?

Yesterday, I ran to my computer, turned it on and started elma.
black screen...grey screen...black screen.and then back to desktop.
then I tried to play again, and again, again. No working.
Then I reinstalled elma, play it using NO patch, it worked fine, of course.
Then I played it using patch 1.11a, worked like a swarm.
Then I played it using patch 1.2(h?) and again, it worked normal.
Then I copied my state.dat back, satisfied with the idea: "YE play elma!"
black screen,...and so on.
Now I think this is strange. I never had this problem with any version, but now with all versions if I use my state. So what could the problem be?
Is it something wrong in state??
is it windows? (XP)

I hope this is a known bug and some moderator will yell at me that I shouldn't make these noob-topics.

EDIT: okay, noob-topic. I guess there are two solutions: beginning all over, or two using statedit. But I don't say I cheat if I do last part!

I dunno, but you could check if the state.dat is corrupted or write-protected or something. But I guess that wouldn't cause this problem..

it just is corrupted and when I open it in any texteditor it shows white field, both state.dat en state.txt .
But I had some old backup of 15 secs worse time, so not a real terror
(since TT is only 1 hour or something

)
but once again it is profen: 'always backup!'

You could try to merge your state into a new one...dunno if it does any different...

I got the same problem now, I got Win XP yesterday and it was working fine up until about 2 hours ago...
I restarted and its still doing it
I'll try copying my old state onto this PC...damn...I got some best times today

ok... i have a bit different problem... all versions ecsept 1.2 is working fine on my xp.
its that black screen, and presing enter turns me back to win.(no way to start it)
it's a bit old copmuter and i think that the problem has occured when i instaled directx 9.0

You should've read the readme that came with version 1.2
You have to import another pack of data into the elma.res file.
Details in the readme, you should work it out yourself.

if you lost your state.dat but you have your stats.txt, you can send it to abula, i've heard he has some nice prog to reconstruct state.dat from stats.txt
