World Cup 5

Post by The_BoneLESS »

Let's make this the official thread to talk about this world wide known elma cup....

I'd first like it to take place because i've never participated in any WCs before and they seem very popular, i'd like to make the top 20 !

So, will it ever be, only the future ( and Abula ) will tell us...

I think the WC5 would be kind of revolutionary. The new wave of kuskis would invade the top 30. Only few previous top10 players would get into top10. One reason for that is that they are getting older, and probably doesn't have as much time to hoyl as they had in earlier cups.

This leads to another question: Should the WCup 5 be held the way the earlier cups were held: Much profit for being a hoyler, meaning that the event is week or two long.... But to sort out the best kuski,it could be maybe better that at least some of the events lasts only 30 minutes or 1 day. HMM were there 1 day events in WC4, I forgot?

Well, WCup4 started in August 2002, so that would make well nigh two years wouldn't it? :)

Just a idea.

1. event: 15mins
2. event: 2 weeks
3. event: 30mins
4. event: 13 days
5. event: 1h
6. event: 12 days
7. event: 3h
8. event: 11 days
9. event: 6h
10. event: 10 days
11. event: 12h
12. event: 9 days
13. event: 1 day
14. event: 8 days
15. event: 2 days
16. event: 7 days
17. event: 3 days
18. event: 6 days
19. event: 4 days
20: event: 5 days

or

1. event: 15mins
2. event: 30mins
3. event: 1h
4. event: 3h
5. event: 6h
6. event: 12h
7. event: 1 day
8. event: 2 days
9. event: 3 days
10. event: 4 days
11. event: 5 days
12. event: 6 days
13. event: 7 days
14. event: 8 days
15. event: 9 days
16. event: 10 days
17. event: 11 days
18. event: 12 days
19. event: 13 days
20: event: 14 days

Bad thing is that you can easily lose quite many points if you cannot be online in correct time in first battles.

I think levels should be :

Minimum : 2 days
Maximum : 2 weeks !

In other words, make it like Wcup4 but, with better levels... !

Because, it's hard for some people to get on computer at 12:00 when you're at school or at work !

ye short events like battles are "unfair" some ppl might miss them due to different things and also there are kuskis in WAY different time zones
4th position in WC4 (DAMN YOU KARLIS!!!!) PWNED KARLIS IN WC5!!!!TT:39:2x:xx (you've got some playing to do Stini ;) ) When it's all over the question is not who was right. The question is who's left.

No way for 15 min balles, that would be just way too unfair. 1 day long event is risky too, but that one i'd say ok.

world cup is world cup

Not world battle!

if you want a big big battlecontest maybe moposite could host one, but in this case I am pretty conservative, world cup should not get too many changes. World Cup is about hoyling too much, about being in a good team, abouting testing all you can imagine to find best style. About begging other teams for recs and: " ok, but don´t say I gave this" and so on.

Battle event in WC5 would definately mess it up... winner recs wouldnt be so fun to see and so on. Also as allready mentioned many ppl wouldnt be able to attend all events.

Maybe you should just make mopobattles start again. Many ppl play them, but no need for them to play all.

On the other hand there is some things I´ve always missed in cups. A really really short level.. like below 15 secs. And not too tricky, maybe not too plain either.. but max hoyla. REALLY max, and top20 (or more) would be VERY VERY tight. Also in King Cup MP had a very long event... WC should have one REALLY long event... winner recs up close to, or over 4 minutes (well.. I know one cant predict winner rec.. but.. and then not just long level in boring corridors.. but with some different ways to drive and so.. That would be rocks to see how extreme ppl are. Well.. thats my opinion. And I can´t see why ppl wont agree

I think that the minimum time for a level should be 3 days!
Because else, many players can't participate since they are going in school or working... I wanna participate in a WC! Can't we start one soon? :D

OMFG its soon 2years since WC4 started, i gotha say it feels like it was some months ago it ended... but wc4 was during ½year
And WC4 was way to long(½year) and to many events, i think there should be 15 and some shorter events like 3days-1week and last höylday should be on monday instead of sunday, cus sundays is still so booring and(almost) every1 is at home then.

Ez my army ends at November this year and Halflife2/WorldOfWorldcraft is cumming out then, so ez play that for some months, then mibi WorldCup5 could take place ^^

As magicman said, 20 events was WAY too much. 15 is the maximun I can think of. Battle events would be cool but all the problems related to them have already been said so no use for me to repeat them. Instead of the battles there could be more shorter events, like 2-4days. Two week events are totally useless, last time there were no one (well maybe Jalli  ) who played both weeks.

Ya definitely not 15mins battle rounds.... I couldn't partcipate them, and I can't make good times in such a short time (not that I could make good times at all :D ) 2 days would be ok... and 2 weeks is too much. I participated wc4 but I was so sucky player backthen that I think I would make much better nowdays... I hope. We'll see if wc5 someday starts, and I'm really looking forward to it.

But whatever happens, I want this cup to start, I want to compete in this one, I didnt do a lot for the WC4 or KC contests...

predictions & thoughts:

The longer the event and less you hoyl the less chance there is that you send in.
Average kuski have this property of feeling ashamed for making a bad result in an event. Players who play to show others have this property stronger than the others. This property gets stronger the longer the event lasts. Tho the longer the event is the more chance there is that more people get to play the level. I don't know the current status of the community activity, but if there are lot of eager young non-experienced talents attending this Cup,then it means that the contest will be nice, tough and people will actually send in. In this case I guess the good ol' conservative 1 week events thing is perfect.
But if half the players are old kuskis that don't have time to play much, then the cup could be a minor disaster and the inactivity would arise and it could lead to the point that the WC6 will never become existed.

That not sending is because you have a bad time is just lame. All that have played more than 15 mins should send in, in cups imo.

Must come up with some crazy ideas... Money, all will play harder and more people will come and play if there's money(more money)!
So who/wich people will get the money? for example maybe ->>
- Winner of WorldCup5
- Best team
- Best level (vote it?)
- Best replay (vote it?)
- Making Hattrick
- Money to host of WC5
....
So how will we get more money? Maybe some of the best players/lev designers/teams can see it as placing a bet. If they are quite sure about winning the team win maybe they can bet 50$ and so will other teams do and best players etc.. and there's allways some generous guys?
This would make WorldCup even more action and better levs?
Just ideas :X goodluck

Not sure if money will get things better but without more donations, at least we, cannot offer much.

I don't think money prizes would have any significance either way. They wouldn't be that big, and it's alot cooler to win trophies than money! And participants, well, WC4 had more than 100 on almost each lev.
