Golden apple awards 2004

Post by Abula »

Time passes and it's again time to have the annual Golden apple award, GAA04.

GAA03
Original idea

Jury
For now we are gathering the jury. Me and SveinR in at least. You can suggest here the names, be realistic, don't suggest yourself. The person should have a wide view of the scene, not being just a good player. skint0r didn't want to be. We think 5-7 would be ideal.

This is under progression. Last year it worked quite well, don't you think?

GAA04 is for achievments during 2003, i think. It has been delayed because Abula was in the army.

i don't understand, can we start voting for each category now? or is it just decided by the jury?

anyway, for the jury i think at least Karlis, Luther, Zweq, Bartek, dz, Cloud, John... these guys are active in #across and #battle, so they pretty much should know their shit. or maybe to make it so that not all are just TT hoylers and WR holders, u could include guys like Kopaka, 8-ball, zworqy. maybe each juror should be different to the others in terms of their role in the scene.

surely not.
it is called GAA04 therefore it should be based on 2004, not 2003.
also, the year is almost over.

It should be for everything happened since last GAA, it's called GAA04 because it's held in 04.

To clear things up:

The last GAA was called GAA2003. It included achievements made from Jan 2002 to Feb 2003.

This one will probably be called GAA2004 and will include achievements made from March 2003 to a month close to when it will take place, say October 2004.
sierra wrote:i don't understand, can we start voting for each category now? or is it just decided by the jury?
You can just mention what you think would be the best combination. The final categories will be decided by the jury, who will take your ideas into consideration. Also, you could name new categories if you have some.
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?

A combination. All stuff regarding the voting are far from being completed now. First, the jury has to be fully assembled.
The_BoneLESS wrote:Will there be threads in the Poll section where we could vote for best levels, recs and players... ?
Eventually, probably, yes.

How did everyone think it went out last time? With the voting, the show, etc? The most interesting feedback from you would be how you thought the voting went on. Should the community as a whole have more power in the voting system, or was it sufficient?

ohhh, did you guys know about this? But if you knew this and you think everything that happens actually spread out and there is nothing big happening that active elmers doesn't know, then -np- , forget this :P -- but I didn't know this, and it's quite big :P 42min tt gal, coal

I agree, if people have some unnoticed info about something they think could be of significance, do post it here!

(Althought the 'best girl' category probably won't be in the GAA (it's not very broad...), 42 TT for a girl is quite big news (prev. best was like 49? or 5x?)

hmm, so you were not allowed to vote for yourself, ok...

how about this as a category: "Biggest amount of high quality battle levels made by a person not currently very active in elma scene due to his/her army service" ?

i think that'd be a good category, mostly because of the vast amount of people who belong to it.

maybe also: "Best new levelpack made of levels previously held as battles, with the packs level-amount being between 50 and 80"?

you should pick a jury on there experience in different area's
example: cyre(battle type awards)... to dz,psy (level awards), Abu and SveinR(scene awards)....etc...

They don't have to be those people, its just a suggestion, its up to them if they choose to do it. :D

What noone of you have mentioned yet about the jury, which is kinda odd since last time we had big discussions about it, is how many from the jury should be from the nordic countries contra people from the rest of the world.
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?
