Elma in XP FIX

Post by nh »

I made a program to fix the problem of Elma "unsmoothness" appearing on some computers working under Windows XP (http://moposite.com/mopolauta/viewtopic.php?t=910). When you play Elma it looks like a low fps or something... dunno...

Type: Loader

--- How to use ---
Extract the files (ElmaXP.exe, Elma12XP.exe) to Elma directory.
To play "fixed" Elma simply run ElmaXP.exe.
If you use Elma1.2 (or 1.2beta), Elma12XP.exe should be run.

--- How it works ---
At my comp - just fine ;)
Indeed, the program is max simple - it just tunes system timer,
then runs Elma, and when Elma is finished it tunes the timer back.
All the difference between loaders ElmaXP.exe and Elma12XP.exe is
the file they run (Elma.exe or Elma12.exe respectively).

Ye cool, I didn't my elma was lagging, but there is is big difference with this loader anyaway!

I'm a little concerned about the (eventual) cheating "potential", though.
<Fihlvein> another case of zworqy-is-always-right closed i guess
<yoosef> zworqy doesnt suck at anything

If I had a clue how it works I might be too, but I don't so I'm not :D guess we should leave that to the experts

And does it tune the timer back if elma crashes, as it does sometimes?

I always used quicktime or msn messenger to get rid of the lag, but thats not needed anymore, elma runs smooth now without them

No

Yes. The program simply waits until elma process is finished, then tunes the timer back.
I'm a little concerned about the (eventual) cheating "potential", though.
This "cheating" is no more cheating than that "tuning" elma with vsync or something. It is about different operation systems indeed.

I'd better like to describe this to you privately first... But you dont answer in IRC now...

Use the program at your own risk. It has fucked up people's computers I've heard. Post your experiences -> http://www.moposite.com/mopolauta/viewtopic.php?t=910
