This is just a hands down win for winRAR.
RAR is faster
RAR packs more efficiently
RAR files does not get corrupt as often as ZIP
winRAR can open loads more file extensions
winRAR can still make those .zip files you crave for

WinRAR & WinZIP = T0NT
PowerArchiver = 1337
But when talking about extensions,
I use *.zip more than *.rar

I mean, omg why would you use WinZip, if winrar has it all and more. I dont remember winzip could handle tar or something like that. And tar is used very often.
In linux there was some prgram called K.. something and there was like many kinds of archives like *.zoo *.jar *.par etc.

Of the two programs winrar is better. But I like the file type zip better. Caus you don't need a program to make or open it in XP.

WinRAR seems to be the best, followed quite closely by WinACE.

Well. It's not about the standard but the program. And was it about the standard there would be no reason to exclude winRAR even if you like .zip better since winRAR handles .zip just as well as winZip

K...something did that too, I think that is linux quality.
But I don't know how it's with winRAR.
(btw, I think there were two progs in linux, K...something and archive roller)

WinRAR handles .rar, .zip, .cab, .arj, .lzh, .ace, 7-ZIP, .tar, GZip, .uue, .bz2, .jar, .iso and Z

OK, then some files aren't extracted with winRAR, but those seem almost enough for me. At least in our tox windows system.

winzip is crap. dunno if winrar can do .ace files now, it couldnt before anyway. i use winace, ez better than power archiver and winrar. and you can compress in .zip, .rar, or .ace.

I personally feel rar files are better as SveinR said but still when I quickly pack something relatively small I tend to use zip files, I guess it's just how I've used to, zips has been there since dos times pkzip, pkunzip and so on.
