Oh....I thought you called that a Flute. I have had lessons for that when I was 7, and I hated it so much.
We call it "Blokfluit" in dutch, which is something like "Blockflute" =)
Anyway, you're pretty much into instruments I see. I always was amazed by people that could play more instruments then one.
In Hong Kong, all the students must learn recorder (taught in music lesson, from primary school).
It was originally a good thing, but since the techniques that the school teaches are so little (just all very basic things), this makes students think recorder is just a simple instrument. The status of recorder is very low.
But I just learned that myself (I can't tolerate what the school taught -- too slow and too simple)
-- all the notes (with # and b) in the two and a half octaves.
Indeed, learning instrument in HK is very popular. A lot of HK people learn piano, I have heard (and read) that the number of people who take piano exam is much highest than any other countries, nearly all the examiners are in HK. Parents want (somehow "force") children to learn instruments to compete better when entering primary school or secondary school.
I understand. I was only forced to play recorder for a half year by my mother, but she quickly gave up, because she saw what horror it was too me. After that I hadn't been bothered with learning any other instrument, until last year our neighbours bought guitars and they convinced us of doing that too. My father has played acoustic guitar now and then since he was a teenager, so that's why he bought one. But now it's me who's the most of the time playing on it.

snare drum, thats hard....
i played that in primary school's marching band. There are no difficult skills in that... maybe we were all very little
I haven't played that for 5 years already, some of my techniques have gone...
Alright. I sit mostly during lessons so that would suck if I had one like that. I'm hoping to buy me a new electric in the years soon to come, one with humbuckers and a good tremolo, but have no idea about the prices yet.
Sorry for bringing up "old" topic, but i think this is a nice thread.
So i guess i have to write anything
Hmm yeah. Aightz, i play in a punk band called All Messed Up, were playing truu U.S Punk, compare us best to Anti-Flag. Still in huge progress though. I have been playing guitar since christmas, but have playin liek 1000 hours every day, so have developed a lot since then.
i'm teaching myself piano. like not whole bajs, only i want to learn a few pieces that i have selected then i'll be satisfied. shame that i have zero experience with piano, i have no teacher, and the pieces i want to learn are advanced :SSSSSS

Very handy. How well do you play the guitar?
I know enough to start a proffesional band know some scales, I do know how to improvise etc. Send me a song and I'll rip it, etc etc etc. now my toasts are done so I got to go!
SveinR wrote:Are you by any chance inspired by Dropkick Murphys? Because of the bagpipes.
Well, Dropkick Murphy's is one of my favourite bands, but I wouldn't say that they inspired us. We play more like hard rock/rock. Listen to hardcode superstar, I'd say they inspired at least me. We're going to make the bagpipes comp the guitar and the guitar will comp the bagpipes when they will do some solo shit.
