moposite grammar mistakes

Post by Juish »

... but i have no clue why.
every time i read this it makes me mad for some odd reason

Code: Select all

¬ Submit times

Mail your state.dat to abula@moposite.com You must tell the name you're using in the state (for example I use Lassi in state.dat but my nick is Abula so you must tell those both), Elma nick, nationality, possible team and all your bug times (which will be fixed) eventhough you don't have them mention it. You don't have to write levels or times or the lists you want to get into. In case some of your times is suspicious, a replay on it might be asked. /\
this should be are not is
i dont know why it angers me because i hate proper grammar and tenses and all the garbage

so could you possibly fix that someone

Elma nick should not be capitalized, and the general use of english should be improved. not. i've adapted to some mopostyle english and it rules.

Juish: click preview before posting and you see the look of the post. Also in testing forum you can train using board features.

SveinR: you can also edit your messages (add your name to the post).

I still think it should be "is" but as we know I suck in English. "some of your times" is probably (and most likely) only one time so that's why. I can fix it later. Thanks.

BarTek: there's a difference between me and you. You write those "whit" and "iz" with knowing there are wrong, but I don't know my mistakes when doing them. And yes, PeXi wrote that part.

dz: here we go.

Thanks for people fixing the errors, I will fix them when I got my computer fixed.

wouldn't comment normally, but as it fits into theme, you can say "when i get.." or "when i have got", but not "when i got"

and now ill stop whining :D

How could I have edited "Guest"? The mopolauta couldn't have known that was me, and when I made that post, I didn't know I wasn't logged in.

So is it "is" or "are"? Read the end of the sentence "a replay on it", singular.

Englishman to the rescue!

It can be either:
In case some of your times are suspicious, a replay on them might be asked.
Or:
In case one of your times is suspicious, a replay on it might be asked

I'm not english, but consider myself to be very good at it. I would say that sentence is wrong. It should still be "are". Compare:

In case one of your fiftyfour times are suspicious, a replay on it might be asked.

And:

Wow, you've just won the great prize.
I honestly hope you're joking.
It's just a matter of logic. Nothing to do with any particular language.

"a replay on it". So, first you use "are" and then "it"... :?

if one of your times is suspicious: "is" refers to "one" doesnt it? whether you say "one of your times" or "one of your 54 times", it still does. so if u r gonna be gramatically correct u say "is".

ribot is correct. The subject of the sentence is ONE so 'is' must be used.

They are the same. The only time I can think of where you should choose one of them is in formal writing because contractions should be avoided.

On moposite, it should be "in case some of your times are suspicious" but only because of the word 'some'.
It could be "in case one of your times is suspicious"

Grammar mistakes in the KOM interview:

-= Top10 newest and olderst personal records? =-

should be obvious :)

-= You've got some negative feedback about playing elma from your friends? =-

Have you received any negative feedback about playing elma from your friends?

-= You are the updater of Moposite page. How it's feeling? =-

How is that feeling?

---
Also some "?"s are missing, and you write "favourite" some places and "favorite" other places. It should be constant.

Didn't you mean to write some instead of one after your first example? And in that case you would naturally need to replace "it" with "them" too. (also isn't there one "or" missing? :) )

I don't see how "In case one of your times are suspicious, a replay on it might be asked." could be right.
Or how "In case one of your fiftyfour times is suspicious, a replay on it might be asked." could be wrong.

I mean isn't it like this:

In case one of your 10 fingers is broken, you can't type very fast. (RIGHT)
In case one of your 10 fingers are broken, you can't type very fast. (WRONG)

And:

In case some of your 10 fingers are broken, it's very hard to type fast. (RIGHT)

In my opinion it can be also singular form. If you have only one suggestion and usually people don't have too many of them at once.

martin: I didn't find a word about teaching English in chain level topic but in elasto mania articles.

Either you are blind or I am a bad writer but you misunderstood. This (moposite grammar mistakes) topic is only for grammar mistakes in Moposite pages, made by me mainly.

If someone still wants to knock other people's grammar mistakes on Mopolauta he has to create a new topic for it.
