Some new ideas:

1. possibility to set a battle to start at certain time. For example, I could set mopobattle to start exactly at 21.00 and wouldn't have to worry about the queue, as long as I did it so early that it wouldn't mess the current queue. One level per designer could still be the limit.

2. the problem of starting old battles: why don't the server check if the level is already played with the given settings?

3. the server could start old battles automatically after given period of time since last battle (for example after 5 minutes of battle break). Or if the level generator will be around, it could generate levs (dunno if they are playable without some manual editing first, maybe a bad idea because it would probably lower the quality of levels). The server could announce clearly that it's an old battle, or it could start it in one-life or first-finish mode.

4. variable break duration between battles. It's now 2 minutes and it feels like 10 minutes at least for me. It could be for example 30 secs after under 5 min battle, 1 min after 5-10 min battle, 2 mins after 10-20 min battle and 3 mins after over 20 min battle.

5. (not a new idea) see the battle queue ingame. For example, a simple announcement with the battle end text ('battle over, there are currently 3 battles in the queue') would be ok. Or even better with the name of the next battle and its designer.

Is there any type of GUI for Belma? I can't seem to figure it out.

EDIT: Also, I saw in the readme
readme wrote:There will be a short delay in startup,
especially if you don't select "skip FTP" in belmaServerConf.exe.
I didn't see that option in said program. Can anyone help me?

I think it's replaced by "play offline" and what for do you need a GUI!? If you really mean grafical user interface then I don't know what you mean :\

Alright, I got the "play offline" thing down, but I'm still having trouble. Whenever I run belma, it just runs regular Elma without going online or anything (either that, or I'm missing something). I turned off the firewall and everything, but I still can't figure it out.

EDIT: Now I'm also getting this error message:

Anyone know what's wrong?

For some reason, my resolution got changed. Thanks!

But now when I try to go online, I get a message that says "error : tcp connect." Anyone know what the deal with that is? I have a hunch that it has something to do with my router or something similar.

I dont really know. Have you updated your belmafolder (moved all needed things from http://www.zworqy.com/belma/ into it)? Are you connected to internet through router or another pc? If so, then that might be the problem, yes.

Also make sure you dont have more than one belma.exe running at a time. Have you tried pressing F12 while in the game?

Have you searched thefaq for your problem?

1. I invented new ban method. belma must create some key in registry on banned computer (or create some file in system directory) by admin's request. While connecting belma checks that key:
if ban=true then do_not_connect :)
+ ip ban, like now.

2. Chat logs plzzzz

3. And make manual abort. If 60-80% of connected people say "abort" in chat - it will abort. Very often no admins...

dunno, all of them are kinda strange and not very useful, maybe except that 1. which seems ok but hard to decide what to do if someone starts before or there is too much time till the start and so on
2. - some balles can be played more times(?) - if noone finished then again:), 3. dunno if a good idea to start old levs, lev generator might be done after i get into mood
4. ..another almost never used option
5. possible, hard to say if necessary, you can check queue on the site

I think most important thing is the "abort vote" , so that we can vote for the abort of those really bad lev's wich are spreading more and more imo (These stupids Pole s are to blame with their crap talking...).

It s no offence against the lev makers, I think it s really cool that there are so many new kuskis, but (b)elma should fun and some lev are just no fun.

Than I wanted to say, that i liked all of Zebras ideas - but i can truely understand that mila needs kind of a break :)

I don't agree on that Palme, some "bad" levels might get aborted that way, but there might still be a few who likes the level, and would suck for those. Often those levels which seem bad(nooby) are actaully fine levels for a battle now a then imo. But many dislikes them, and would suck if they got aborted all the time.

I get your point, but the vote could be like 90% who played the lev have to agree. Then some broken or old lev s can be aborted

WOuld it be possible to let the server make a Ba_ in front of every balle lev AND Balle rec? So it would be like Ba_bjorn23.lev
I would like this very much, because then i could easily delete old levs and rec. Now it s really annoying when guys name their lev s like 01Bla and i don t know is it was some testlevel or something, same with recs, when zweq wins i got some 01Bla_Zwe and dunno if it s some rec of him for warmup.

I don t know how u think about that, but i would like it.

I would not like it. Because then when you go to the lev you must hold ctrl down and write Ba and then search for that level (god knows how many options of levs named Ba_XXX you've got). See, you cant fast search the "_" sign.

Maybe it is possible to add an extra folder for battle levs and recs!?
Like Lev and Rec folder in Belmadir and two extrafolders BLev and Brec.
Dunno if you must have then "Battle External Levels" and"External Levels" in Belmamenu or if both folders can be loaded in normal "External Levels" (same thing with replays).

Your right, i haven t thought about that, but Frede s idea sounds quite nice, but maybe to much work for mila...

Fred s idea is even better, because i avoided setting belma as main "Elma" - it was just to messed up.
With two different folders it would just be more the "main elma.exe"

I'm not sure has this been suggested already, but i would like to see some daily or weekly battle packs, all battled levs and winner recs in it.
Would be nice to do some rec watching always.

did teh startballe flag
gave it to those ones i know and to those who had more than 5 balles and less than 20% aborted

things already done for next version:
1. whole server code rewritten from the scratch to nice one:)
2. remove possibility to start qwquu levs
3. position in balle in status text
4. private chat ingame
5. 'hide times' checkbox for startballe
6. add flag for starting balles for users which will be default off for new registered users
7. fps limiter
8. do non-case sensitive bmps, levs, nicks
9. show all in the f5 table also hidden, but wihtout lev name
10. hide tables when got disconnected, otherwise it will stay there forever
11. fix bug with clearing top10
12. fix bug with finishing and dying to killer at the same moment

things that are planned for the next version :
1. rewrite client code to nice one
2. http stuff instead of ftp
3. observing list of kuskis in alphabetical order
4. save setup to file (others hidden, others can see me, ..)
5. link to lev/rec in irc

things planned for some future version :
1. increase size of rec file to 60 mins
2. cooperative multiplaying
3. apple collecting balle - wont be possible to see rec
4. see time of last apple taken - for uberhoylas
5. flagtag

things not decided if it will be done or not (problems with teh, or might be a bad idea..)
1. add bugtimes accepted checkbox in startballe
2. see no of apples taken / time of observed kuski (or of you)
3. LEV generator (for only moderators)
4. battles with 'last time taken'
5. 9-lives battle (or other number)
6. if you type chat or observe, not die until you stop observing/typing
7. do non-us keyboard conversion
8. 24htt setupable for only one kuski so others can play normal balle
9. delete rec/lev files
10. merging >2 replays

What about these ideas:

1. Elma doesn't crash when it encounters Internal Error
2. Editor that can support up to 10000 (or more) levels

Sounds necessary to me

edit: uhm, if some moderator can please move this post here.. thanks

Will Elma Online, or Elma in general work for Windows Vista 64 bit?

And if not, is there any plans on patching it for 64-bit Vista?

Nice idea. Maybe daily packs would be better because weekly packs would be so huge. And maybe first-finish and one-life recs could be left out because usually they are not worth watching.
