Yes, majority of Australians haven't been to another country, but they have most likely been interstate, usually to Queensland, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth. Going to Tasmania (the little small island at the bottom of AUS) is probably the closest the average aussie crosses an ocean.
Also, most people in AUS, especially younger people, are yet to see snow. I saw snow for the first time last year on a school skiing camp and ive never had so much fun. I've only been interstate a couple of times, which was very recently.
And No, i dont want to travel. Sure it would be cool to tour another country for a couple of days, but 'there's no place like home.'
also offtopic: it's a bit weird to see some of you guys being able to speak atleast two different languages. Almost every aussie can only speak english with the exception of some wog swear words.

There are a couple of reasons why non-English speakers in Europe, and especially in Scandinavia, are able to speak/write pretty good English. I'm only gonna talk from a Norwegian point of view here, but I assume it's quite the same in the other countries.bob wrote: also offtopic: it's a bit weird to see some of you guys being able to speak atleast two different languages. 1. Almost all TV series and movies are in English. In Norway they are not dubbed, but instead texted. This allows for the kids to notice how the language should be spoken (although mostly American) from a VERY young age.
2. In Norway we have English in school from we're 8 years old (I think).
3. The Norwegian society has evolved to becoming pretty Americanized over the years.

Well, at least Finnish know swedish well because Finland is two-languaged country, we speak both finnish and swedish. All finnish students has to study swedish right at the basic school. All places, roads etc are pretty much always marked with both finnish and swedish names.bob wrote:also offtopic: it's a bit weird to see some of you guys being able to speak atleast two different languages. A few months ago I was in Viaborg in Russia.
My first goal is to collect pictures of all Finnish municipalities' signs. There are about 450 and I have 75 now, heh (http://www.pulu.org/kunta/). Then I'll collect all the countries, ok.

after squip posted my list doesn't feel so long anymore, but anyway here it is:
-Norway (I live there)
-Sweden (Mostly short trips only for shopping )
-Denmark
-Germany
-The Netherlands
-Belgium
-Luxembourg
-France
-Iceland
-USA
-Italy
-The Vatican
-Poland
-Czech Republic
In order of time first visited (more or less). The only ones I haven't spent at least a whole day in are Luxembourg and the Vatican. I'd really like to go see some more far away part of the world like Japan. The only country I've been to outside Europe is the US
