I guess you should press some "Exract to .exe" button, but dunno.

it's so small because it uses verteces. This technique greatly decreases file size. Also, Flash MX has a high rate jpg compression and mp3 compressing. That's why it can be so small. And yes, .swf is a standalone format. One tip: when importing sound, import as WAVE format, this creates better compressing, it's smaller then after exporting your movie.
extracting to .exe is only good when you know certainly somebody doesn't have flash player.

well that is ahem, stupid to think. Who doesn't have flash player? 1% of all computer users, and elma people, people who use internet often always have a flash player. executables are way bigger.

But anway, be sure to import sound as .WAV file.

ANSWERS: Yes, you should just export it in flash player 6. When you make it in that format, then what's the deal to export it in something other? Second, you make this movie for people who come here on internet. Flash 4 and under is like much years old, even flash 5 and 6. So I doubt it that someone hasn't that version.

About the filesize, check http://newgrounds.com/portal/view/158218 .
This movie is like 5 minutes long and has all stuff. Still it is under 5 MB.
So that filesize you mentioned must be correct yes.

I hope it is a nice movie, and that the sound is good.

erh, you use macromedia flash mx or something right?
Further more I really don't understand your other problem, maybe just performance problems. Try exporting in different flash formats, (.swf ofcourse) and even in avi or something.

uhm, your problem is that you can have flash plugin, or standalone player.
It's indeed better to have it web-based, maybe with link to file under it.

Code: Select all

<FORM>
<INPUT type="button" value="BarTek's Elma Movie" onClick="window.open('http://www.moposite.com/media/visual/bartek_elma_movie.swf',
'Title Of Elma Movie','width=400,height=200','resizable=no','scrollbars=no','toolbar=no','location=no','directories=no','status=no','menubar=no')">
</FORM>
Try this in HTML file.
