Very funny to watch when they die so silly deaths =)

I'm itching to slap your face with my open sweaty, smelly palm whenever you watch some movie. Let it be your chin, forehead or even nose, with some fingers painfully entering your eye. SLAP!
What I do with my freetime is non of your business, it's a free world we live in last time I checked. Please go enjoy yourself whatever you like to do, instead of trying to find things you are annoyed by.

Nice John, I'm surprised you hadn't seen it before, I have seen it at least 5 times!

Spirited Away (2001) - 9/10

Oh God... I watched it for the first time yesterday. I knew it was Japanese, but I were by no means prepared for all the random weirdness, so for half of the time I was quite disgusted and overwhelmed by it :S But then I noticed plenty of great aspects of the film, and I loved Chihiro, the main character, and the music. So I decided to watch it again today. What a good decision it was!!!!!!!!!!!! Since this time I was ready for the weird crap, I simply overlooked it and focused on the sheer beauty of the story, characters and music. I really love Chihiro, such a cute, heartwarming girl! Plenty of other characters were great too :) And the soundtrack is absolutely startling, I think I'll buy it tomorrow... *_*
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArsV7AFZBHY

This was (probably) my first Japanese film ever (disregarding some horror watched many years ago), and in many ways it was new to me. But I enjoyed it thoroughly and I'm looking forward to seeing more Miyazaki's films. If they're all made in this manner, I'm going to become a fan :)

Returned from Britain with some new (old) films watched :D Got X-men marathon.
X-men 1: 6/10 First one is pretty good
X-men 2: 5/10 This one is bit.. eh...
X-men 3: 6/10 I liked this the most out of the original three.
X-men: Wolverine: 5/10 Bit crap.

Also watched both series of new Sherlock Holmes, pretty enjoyed it, I rate it 9,5/10.
Finally seen Django, finished Boy in striped pajamas and some random mission impossible..
Django Unchained: 5/10 Lol and I thought it would be good after all the praising... Typical Tarantino, blood and gore, violence and niggers hating other niggers. 5/10 only because it made me smile sometimes.
Boy in Striped Pajamas: 8/10 wow this totally got me. Really well-made film, eventhough you can´t just.. "enjoy" watching this.
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol: 4/10 Bad. Too many flaws, unrealistic shit. Sorry.

Känn Ingen Sorg/"Shed No Tears" - 7/10
Almost 8/10. One of those movies that feels unique all the way through. This one is based around and inspired by the music from swedish singer Håkan Hellström. Even though I'm not a fan he has made a few good songs and I like the way they were implemented in the movie. Many times when one song starts the name of that song is subtly seen somewhere on-screen, like graffiti on a wall, written on a tree or written on the front of some LP in the background. It's an intriguing story about friendship, love, fear and sorrow (the title means kinda "Don't feel any sorrow" from a song called "Känn Ingen Sorg För Mig Göteborg"). I was positively surprised, the movie felt surreal and real at the same time and the characters became like buddies ;o Gothenburg was a great backdrop too - very "summery". Hm, I might change the rating to 8/10 after all. Don't know how well this movie would fit anyone who doesn't understand swedish but I'd like to recommend it to anyone and if you see it let me know here what you think :)

Good Will Hunting (1997) - 8/10
Schindler's List (1993) - 9/10
Léon (1994) - 8/10
The Man in the Iron Mask (1998) - 6/10
Mississippi Burning (1988) - 7/10

TRON (1982) - 6/10
TRON: Legacy (2010) - 7/10
TRON was ok (+1 for revolutionary technique), but TRON: Legacy was a very pleasant surprise! I have two main points to make: firstly, it was one of the most visually beautiful films I've ever seen; secondly, it was a truly worthy successor to TRON, which is a great compliment that I pay very rarely :) Only 7 cuz shit story ofc, but what can you expect. Soundtrack also pretty kul.

Pride & Prejudice (2005) - 7/10
Atonement (2007) - 6/10
Pride & Prejudice was very pretty, Atonement too but too boring for 80% of the time. Beautiful soundtrack in both :)

Quite nice entertainment. Some of the plot felt overworked though, trying to mindfukk for the sake of mindfukking.

Life of PI (2012): 7/10 Interesting film, I had no idea what it would be about. Surprised.

Machine gun Preacher (2011): 4/10 Bad, really not worth watching imo. Action scenes were kinda.. eh.. and those others (like in the church etc.) were absolutely badly executed. I had no idea what wanted this film to tell to me. No inner idea.

Snabba Cash: Livet Deluxe - 6/10
Pretty nice finale of the Snabba Cash trilogy. I had some issues with almost inaudible dialogue and where the focus of the movie was. I liked how it didn't feel stylized though, shit took place in Sweden not in some Hollywoodized romanticized dream land. Worth my time.

Monica Z - 6/10
Biography/drama about the struggles, both family- and careerwise, of swedish singer Monica Zetterlund (1937 - 2005). Decent music (not really a fan though) and entertaining overall.

Nice Xarthok, even though I quite disliked it myself Im happy to see you put 8/10 on Les Miserables.

Gravity - 10/10
Yep, it's that good, it's also my first 10 since I saw 12 Angry Men in april 2011. Such incredibly unique movie unlike anything I've ever seen. Now someone will probably say "it's just another space movie" but I have to disagree. The visuals are breathtaking, sometimes almost poetic, even the 3D conversion is first class. The story is interesting and done almost in a continous shot which is very rare, I think only a few minutes were "cut away" from the story. It's not a perfect 10 though, some of the science are wrong, the conversation between the astronauts felt weird (I've followed a couple of space walks live and have heard how they talk). At other times the attention to detail is quite impressive. I urge you to go see it, preferably in 3D. Can't wait til I see it again.

8/10 o/

I agree with all your points except the rating. For me, all the negative aspects you mention was enough to let it not be a 9 or 10.

I hope to see more movies like this in the future.

...and in other news!

Rush - 8/10

Saw this in cinema last week. Enjoyed it a lot. Never thought rivalry in F1 could be the main theme of a movie. Too bad Mrs. Lauda got denominated to one of the extras though. Greatly casted by the way.

My first thought after exiting the theater was that I have to see this movie again. In a Cinema, in 3D.

The Visuals, as John put it, were truly breathtaking. And the way they told the story, both visually and plot-wise was stunning. For instance, how they transitioned into first person shots in the middle of a scene and just kept it going afterwards was really nice. The fact that you don't get your typical Hollywood cinematography with a new shot every few seconds really felt natural in a space movie like this.

The way played with sounds, or rather the lack thereof, was also really sweet. Watching an entire space station be torn apart in the background (with the most beautiful CGI I must add) and not hear a sound from it really made it feel even bigger. It's like it's such a big event that our brains cannot comprehend what we're seeing, so adding large explosion sounds in the background would just be dumbing it down and making it feel cheap. This way they let you imagine what it would be like rather than straight-out telling you something big is happening.

I kinda agree with what you said about the language used, and also Chris Hadfield had taught me that tears wouldn't behave the way they did when Ryan was crying in the Soyuz module (see here). But hell, it's a movie. Even Apollo 13 got many things wrong, and I don't hold that against them.

Really nice movie. Watch in in a theater.

Recently returned from cinema;
Thor: The Dark World (2013): 6/10 better than first one imo, actually, nothing extreme, i think its worth watching for the Loki scenes. Those contain like 80% of the humour in the film. Considering, Thor is saving world and he is travelling by London Underground (mind the gap!)... sum: kinda farce. But I enjoyed it, wasnt boring for me. My expectations were zero, so I could be only surprised.

Gran Torino (2008): 9/10 It really left something in me...
Iron Man 3 (2013): 6/10 This is basic shit, didn´t expect much more. But still giving 6, as "good". Because I watch Marvel comic adaptations for the effects mostly. And I had fun, wasn´t bored...
The Social Network (2010): 8/10 I like this adaptation, was really nice imo. I am pretty sure I will watch this again some time...
X-men First Class (2011): 6/10 I give 6 only for Jennifer Lawrence. Otherwise 5, or even less.
The Wolverine (2013): 5/10 This kind of films is getting old...
Upside Down (2012): 8/10 I am really not fan of romantic trash, but this romance caught me pretty much, I really liked it. Pretty sure you will see it differently, but really, very nice. I liked the gravity stuff, even I noticed tons of big flaws there, but still. Very nice indeed.
Zero Dark Thirty (2012): 8/10 I recommend watching this film, at least for its information value. But nevertheless, I find it a really good film. A bit drastic, but still realistic enough.

I have so much time to watch films now... so it is just going and going...

Intouchables (2011): 7/10 Everybody was saying how enormously good this film is, rating it 8,5+, but I find it just... good film. I like that there was no extremly big plot to solve or whateva, but film about friendship. And about the guy who looks like gangsta on the first sight, but proves to be a good-heart.
The Hunger Games (2012): 6/10 I gave it a 6, because according to book pretty well, and its somehow watchable, and even enjoyable.

Catching Fire 9/10
100x better than the first movie, seems like the director finally read the books^^
Ok there are still some parts missing, even in the 2nd movie, but these are not very important.
