New moderators?

Post by Igge »

I'm not saying SveinR isn't doing a good job as admin. All I'm saying is that running a forum alone must be tough? We do have several people who are supposed to be admins and moderators, but as far as I can tell they're not doing anything.

And yes, maybe this recent spam-wave is just temporary, but still. Like I said, running a forum alone can't be easy?

Poo.

I voted yes too, but I love sveinr and I think that he should get to decide who will join him, and not the community. if it gets to that.

I was the 2nd person who voted no.

I said this in Feedback forum, but I will say it again here:
I think this forum software needs upgrade (if possible) to avoid bots. Moderators can only delete bots, but bots will still come here and spam. That's why I voted no in new moderators poll.

I think the best solution would be manual account activation for now and software fix ASAP.

Account activation now has to be confirmed by admins. Board software will be updated soon.

Igge is right. About 2000 spambots have registered since February. It's quite tedious work to delete all of them, since I only see 50 on each "inactive users" page... Or I can simply delete all inactive users that have registered since February, without bothering to check if any legitimate users have registered in that time.

Do it. I personally wouldn't care too much. Just explain the reasons behind that action in announcement.

It turns out it won't be quite that simple: I'd need to delete all users that have registered since February and who haven't made a post yet, regardless of their activity.

Meh. So what? If you delete som 'real' users, who still want to be part of the scene, they can re-register later - as long as you make some announcement I guess.
