One thing I've wondered for years - how do you consistently do the top-right corner hang with optimal speed without dying at entrance?

Yeah this is one of those things that seems like it can be strongly based on tuning to me. Some replays show this being fine with max acceleration and i can't do it without lifting off throttle for a good 0.5s. This doesn't slow you down that much but it makes it much more difficult to make the longjump if you are learning the level's intricacies for the first time.

I've also been wondering this for decade, when merging I always loose a lot of time at that place, only very rarely and without any reasonable consistency it works sometimes :s hence this lev required the most amount of hoyling for me to finally get a 38.xx time

It's been a while since I hoyled it and I don't know if it's that much of a help but I always tried to press brake just as quick as I could before hang, sometimes I even missed braking because I tried to do it so quickly. So I'd say brake as fast as you can, have some luck with timing and the margins on your side. I've never cared about tuning on WTH but my normal fps value is around 350fps with timer ON.

Ahh I though lower fps would only make it worse at that area, but good to know this, might try a bit now :)
