Super Mario Bros lgr + levels!!!

Post by Polarix »

Yo! What happends if you mix the old school 1985 super mario bros game and elma?

The answar is here:
http://up.k10x.net/ouknkcltumwjv/8-bitV10.zip

This zip contains a lgr cover the normal ground and the underground styles.
I have used pretty much time on it so i think its pretty nice.

I have made 3 levels, whit the SMB style, so its pretty hard to make.
The SEMBT01 lev have invisible polygons to make impsy jumps.
SEMBT= Super Elma Mario Bros Test
The other levs is maybe better and have no cheat as gravity or invisible polygons.

Please give comments.

PS: The bowserlevs textures and waterlevs textures will come in the 8-bitV20.lgr

Are you just kidding?
Anyways, big challenge, we must use cheats as gravity and invinsible polygons which is bad.

BTW, can someone make a sick and tricky speedrun-replay on SEMB02?

actually i wasnt kidding. should be pasibel with some minor polygons (read "kickers" or "ramps") added here and there. but i dont remember much of the levels from SMB1, but they cant be much different from SMB3 no?

dunno what version you use but in elma config you can set "pictures on backround" option so they wont go in front of the bike even if they are set so

The difference between SMB1 and SMB3:
- SMB3 has uphills
- levels in SMB3 goes up as they go to the right
- SMB3 have much more dynamics
- SMB3 have larger levels
- Of course the graphics is better in 3, but that is not a problem
And pretty much other.

But yeah ofcourse possible.
propably the best lgr ive seen so far, good job polarix. im going to continue using default.lgr however Smile
Yeah ofcourse, none theme-lgr's should be as default.lgr
only thing i have to complain about is the pics, imo all pics should be behind the bike, orka do brutal behind som bushes
Oh sorry, when i made this lgr, i had pictures in background- funktion in the elma12 config, so i didnt notice that important pics had a value under 500, but this is not going to repeat, thanks for criticism!

oh one thing i need to complain about: the red wheel and light brown ground gives poor wheel/ground contrast, also why not make mario/luigi kuski? :P

The mainidea with the red tires, is to see the wheels in underground (Blue world) where its totaly dark. But anyways, red was like an ok colour. What color do you mean it should be?

Mario and Luigis bodyshapes fit Elmers bodyshape extremly bad! I tested it, and it looked so wrong.
At least it has some new ideas...

Excellent level there zebra! I really like these kind of blocky levels, it is a welcome variation on the normal routine. Just about a week ago orcc made this unbelievably good level in the same vein, it was the best level battled in ages.

Orcc, please try to make something with this LGR! It would rock big time.

Oo, thanks :)

Let's see if I can find time to make something. I thought of some visual things already, but I'll just need to get ALE (which I don't like really) to create them with more ease.

Here is the latest level, and imo best so far. Does not contain invisible polygons or gravity.

And for noobs who cant pass the level, it is a rec in the zip-file, which show a simple way to do it.
