The most common absolute scale is the Kelvin (K) scale, which is based on the Celsius scale with minus 273.16 degrees C being 0 degrees K. To change C to K, just add 273.16 degrees to the C reading. If you have learned algebra, you know that -17.7C will be 255.46 degrees K. (Since -17.7 is a negative number you subtract it from 273.16 when you add the two.)
Once you have converted to the Kelvin scale you're ready to figure out what twice as cold means. "Twice as cold would mean only half the heat energy," Weinbeck says. "So that the absolute temperature would be half of 255.46 K or 127.73 K. Such temperatures would certainly shiver your timbers!"
To see how much it would shiver your timbers, convert back to Celsius. Since you added 273.16 to the Celsius temperature to get the Kelvin temperature, you'd do the opposite to go the other way. That is, subtract 273.16 from 127.73 K to get the Celsius temperature of minus 145.43 degrees. This is a lot colder than the world record cold of minus 89.6 degrees C. set July 21, 1983 at the Russian Vostok Station in Antarctica. If tomorrow is really going to be that cold, the sun must be dying.

heres another easy one
A horse is tied to a five meter rope, six meters away from it was a bail of hay. Without breaking the rope, the horse was able to get to the bail of hay. How is this possible?

some answers
1)the other side of the rope is free (not tied to a pole or anything) so it won't break
2) IF the horse is tied to a pole: When u mean "IT" u are talking about the horse, so the pole is just a meter away from the bail of hay. Easy to reach by the horse
3) If both doesn't work... i dunno

its not half as hot, it shalf the heat energy which is completely different and i didnt do physics so i cant work that out,
and it explains the 17.7 thing there,
ced was slightly wrong but he was the closest

ok these may not be updated for a couple of days, but feel free to post more questions at the same time
1. I know a word of letters three, add two and fewer there will be?
2. I am the owner of a pet store. If I put in one canary per cage, I have one bird too many. If I put in two canaries per cage, I have one cage too many. How many cages and canaries do I have?
3.After teaching his class all about roman numerals (X = 10, IX=9 and so on) the teacher asked his class to draw a single continuous line and turn IX into 6. The only stipulation the teacher made was that the pen could not be lifted from the paper until the line was complete.
4. Two convicts are locked in a cell. There is an unbarred window high up in the cell. No matter if they stand on the bed or one on top of the other they can't reach the window to escape. They then decide to tunnel out. However, they give up with the tunneling because it will take too long. Finally one of the convicts figures out how to escape from the cell. What is his plan?

1. ten has three letters, eight has two more letters and is fewer units.
3. u write a splitting horizontal line in the middle of the word IX, so u get IV, which is 4, on one side of the line. and if u turn the paper upside down u have vi, 6, on the other side of the line.
4.they can make a rope out of their clothes and bed sheets?

Here's one straight from a book:
"A gang of road workers were asphalting a road, using different kinds of asphalt-surphacing machines. They were on piece-work, and since they were pressed for time, they decided to work six-day weeks.
After four weeks they had completed one fourth of the contract. it took the manother 31 days to complete the next three eights of the contract.
How long did it take the gang to asphalt the whole road, provided that the average rate of speed was maintained from the first day till the job was finished, and they all worked the same number of hours every day?"

86 days of work then + 4 days in the 4 weekends, so it's 90. ( unless those 31 days included weekends too)

if its six days a week
24 days of work (6 days each) = 4 weeks = 1/4 entire job
31 days of work (no week, days = 3/8 = 1.5/4 entire job
since u need the other 1.5/4 AND there are no schedule changes or anything, they're should be exactly 31 days too...
24 + 31 + 31 = 86 days...
is there anything wrong in that? maybe it's a typo on the problem? or should i be shameful of my "poor-thinking" brain?

100 or 101 days if weekends were included. they must have changed machines after the first fourth, because otherwise i'm an idiot.

Another try:
4 weeks = 28 days = 24 working days
Then 31 days
If first day was monday, then 31 days would the 31st day be on a Wednesday. That means 6+6+6+6+3=27 working days. Then 27 more as the last part = 78 working days + 13 free days = 91 days.

OK, then...
First 24 days for 1/4 (2/8).
Then 31 days for 3/8.
That gives 55 days for 5/8 of the work. The question stated that the average was to be maintained. The average for the first 55 days was 1/8 in 11 days, so the work would take 11 * 8 = 88 days!

There are 3 barrels.
Each barrel is labled with what it contains:
1st barrel is labled with: "blue balls"
2nd barrel is labled with: "red balls"
3rd barrel is labled with: "half blue and half red balls"
A man comes and switches all the lables in a way that now each barrel is labled with what it DOES NOT truely contain.
The Question is: What is the minimum sum of balls you have to get out of the barrels in order to know what each barrel truely contain?
Think hard

You only pick one ball from the "mix"-section. If it's red, then that is only red ones. That means that the one that was marked "mix" is filled with red, and the one marked with red then have to be blue. If it isn't then one of them was correctly marked from the beginning. That leaves to "blue" one to be "mix". So correct answer is: 1.
The third question from Bob, is probably from monopoly or something, I think they're prisoners, stuck in jail there
