Updating EOL levpack records

Post by Orcc »

As the release of the already infamous EOL Level Pack is drawing nearer, we would like to ask how should the records be updated. Should they be updated as soon as the times are driven or rather once a week at a set time? This is only about the best times in each lev, not all nab times.

With weekly updates the problem is that you can always see the best times in EOL with ctrl+f5, so it is possible to see new records even before they would be updated.

My own opinion is that we should have weekly updates to get a bit more official feeling for the pack. Also it'd be ez to make some statistics and check out the old tables. Not to forget the honour for the leader after the first week!

Yeah, voted for the weekly update just for the old-fashion feeling. also can't bother to check times on each lev individually.

I like the idea of weekly table updates. It would give a nice oldskool feeling to it and being something 'special'. Dunno how special the levels will be but anyways. I also kinda agree with Jappe, but you can see the times in eol so I guess this weekly thing is ok.

Every succesful levelpack had a cool wr table, not just a lame list of times. I have no sources to back that up, but I know it is like that!

Ez instantly, there's really no point to keep it updated weekly since everyone can check the times in EOL. I wanna see fresh stats on the site.

As far as I remember EOL levpack was supposed to be like "new internals"...

I was the last voter, 20/20 before :D

One more thing would be nice - to calculate personal TT limit breakers, like it was in Lost Internals.

All required data is stored in EOL database so it can be done anytime later.

UPD. So lame... What's the point in updating each friday if results are shown anyway?

The point is obviously that you will be able to check on teh site all the new records that have been made during the last week. Why should it be hidden in EOL ? When one decides to hoyl a lev, he also wants to see what is the best time there, so why to complicate it by some stupid hiding times ?

To make the stupid wrtable something special! Otherwise it'll just be a shift+f5 in browser, not in eol. Damn it.

Annoying as fuck. If enough people vote for instantly to get instantly back on top, can it be changed back?

Stupid to hide times -.-

Hidden times battles always suck, what makes you think it will work in a pack. No times ever get hidden in a pack. 0lp, Uni, LostInts, etc. Never hidden times, always max spoken about between people.

Times were always discussed at great length. In this case, it's more of a "hush, keep times secret so we all get surprised lol" attitude.

haruhi, if everyone could see all times, what would people really have to talk about? not much since all the information is there for everyone to see. the reason why this method, atleast for example in world cups and i'm geussing on the first elma wr tables, makes for discussion about times is because it's all based on rumours. the good old days was all about trading times, styles and replays (and being paranoid about having or not having the right information) and that was precisely because times weren't known. get it?

Again, what the fuck are you talking about? Out of those three that you mentioned earlier (0lp, Lost internals, Uni) you have only been there when Uni's were released. Then you should know that there are only like four players who have really played that pack (axxu, Markku, Tisk, adi), and I don't remember anyone talking about those times. 0lp and Lost internal times were discussed in irc exactly because people didn't know others' times and it was max when everyone played mind games with others, just like J-sim said.
