<Pawq> at a gym you have only 3 options: 1. have your eyes closed, 2. stare at yourself, 3. stare at others, all of which are either super boring or disgusting

So I watched a movie called avatar, have you guys heard about it? I started with the mindset that it's some usual mainstream crap that I'm not going to like at all. I was completely clueless what the movie is about, beside seeing one picture of some blue mongo. I took my exercise bicycle and put the movie rolling. It didn't take very long to be annoyed with the million times seen character attitudes and overly witty and quick responses in tricky situations(don't you hate that kind of perfectness also?). I managed to ignore all the annoying popular culture stufés and somewhere at one hour view time I just realized I'm very immersed and I forgot my bicycle. Later on I started hoping for a cliché happy ending, and I got it. Thanks, that was a good one.

The story has of course been seen and read three million times and the movie swarms with popular culture clichés that repeatedly try to ruin the viewing experience (oh man was I pissed off many times), but somehow they didn't ruin it for me (this time). So, I'm not going to lie just to dodge some trolls or something, the movie was pretty great.

Puss in Boots - 7/10
Was actually pretty funny and entertaining. Decent voice actors even in the swedish version.

En enkel till Antibes - 6/10
It was a bunch of 60 year olds and I in a 100% full theatre :D Don't recommend seeing a movie shot in your hometown if you're going to see it in your hometown unless you don't want the whole auditorium to start guessing shooting locations. Other than that a funny and intriguing story.

Wild Things - 6/10
Much better than expected.

Safe House - 7/10
It's nice to see some swedish work from Hollywood. Swedish director, two swedish actors and a couple of crewmembers from Sweden as well. Daniel Espinosa's movie is fast-paced and a well spent 115 minutes.

Is this topic for books as well, or perhaps should create new one?))

World War Z very good book)

"Rather than a grand overview or narrative, World War Z is a collection of individual accounts in the form of first-person anecdotes. Brooks plays the role of an agent of the United Nations Postwar Commission who published the report a decade after the Zombie War. The United Nations left out much of his work from the official report, choosing to focus on facts and figures from the war rather than the individual stories that form the bulk of Brooks' novel. The interviews chart a decade-long war against zombies from the view point of many different people of various nationalities. The personal accounts also describe the changing religious, geo-political, and environmental aftermath of the Zombie War."

Easy Rider (1969) - 5/10
Expected more. It was totally fucked, not as much music as I'd like too. Still, some parts were very coal ^^

The Doors (1991) - 6/10
Just too blown away for my brains, but I guess that's what all's about. And the music was there, lots of it <3

I watched these two with my best friend. Afterwards he said sth like "if you ever see me with drugs, you can kill me right away". We agreed on this working both ways :)

I believe we are not writing a Wikipedia page in here. If you normally use the word 'drug' when you go shop for coffee, candy or alcohol then fine, but I doubt it. I don't think anyone does, just these Internet smart-asses.

What I'm getting at is why would you kill someone for using only illegal drugs, while using legal ones seems to be ok? What makes marijuana so much worse than alcohol, when in fact it isn't?

Maybe that's what you should've written in the first place then. Illegal drugs tend to be more addicting and dangerous to health, also having stronger effect on your perception.

Moneyball (2011) - 5/10
Puss in Boots (2011) - 7/10
Beginners (2010) - 7/10
The Help (2011) - 8/10
J. Edgar (2011) - 3/10
My Week with Marilyn (2011) - 7/10
Hugo (2011) - 9/10

Been watching as many oscar movies as I've been able to get my hands on, probably watching Tree of life tonight, and then Ides of March in cinema tomorrow night. As you can see from my votes my favourite so far for best movie is Hugo. Too bad won't be able to see The Artist and The Descendants before the oscar show as they seem to be the favourites. In acting categories only favourites I really have is Jessica Chastain from The Help. Would be nice to see Bridemaids win something aswell, maybe best screenplay but that might be a long shot. Anyone else have some favs?

Recommend movies in dystopian post-apocalyptic wastelands, please! =) Not necessarily horror and zombies, although those are fine too. I just somehow really like sach setting. Movies I've seen and enjoyed: The Road, Book of Eli (although supernatural shit sort of ruined it for me), Mad Max and I Am Legend.

Lousku, Zombieland is cool!

I've seen Resident Evil 1 and it made me want to watch the next ones too. So I guess that could be worth a watch maybe.

Twelve Monkeys/, if I remember correctly was good also!

I usually don't like these kind of movies so maybe I gave some bad tips, but these are a few I thought were worth watching! And ye, I Am Legend was really good!

Twelve Monkeys is max and Blade Runner is one of the best movies I have ever seen :OOOOO And that soundtrack by Vangelis, holy frack o,o

Quadrophenia (1979) - 7/10
max! <3 and The Who all around :D

EDIT:
I loved The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Rooney Mara, so I'm obviously disappointed with only 1 Oscar :( I'm happy for Woody Allen, Christopher Plummer and Meryl Streep :D Pissed off that Gary didn't win too ;/ Natalie Portman, Rooney Mara and Emma Stone win the contest tonight, in that order :D Sick Artist and Hugo, defiantely gotta watch both now, or at least Hugo :D Descendants one? After so many nominations? :0

btw, Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr. are SO handsome :DD

War Horse - 6/10
A weak 6. I saw this movie with my gf on sunday, before the Oscars. I wrote later on facebook something like "I'm feeling kinda anti against War Horse, too obvious "we overcome anything"-feeling. Still a good movie but I hope we'll get to see other winners at tonight's Oscars.". Too pretentious movie. Luckily it didn't get any Oscars at all. I also said, the minute I saw the trailer for The Artist months ago at work, that "that looks really interesting, I really want to see it". It stood out with it's b/w photo, 1:33 ratio and being a silent film. Haven't had the chance to see it yet though, really looking forward to it (even more now).

Yes, I did. Not much to say really. The Descendants and Midnight in paris were the only movies that I saw before the awards so I have no comments on what movie should have won. Anyway, I'm glad that The Descendants, nor Clooney didn't receive an oscar for best picture or male actor or directing for Alexander Payne. The Descendants is not bad, it's quite good even but not his best film imo. I like Sideways more for example.

Midnight in Paris was okay, nothing special and I was surprised that Woody Allen got an oscar for original script. Surely, something more interesting/more original or even better must have been written during last year, no?

Anyway, the oscars were way better than last year with James Franco and Anne Hathaway.

The Devil Inside - 4/10
A decent 1½h spent. Not really any scares, more like a uncomfortable mood building up more and more. [Spoiler below]
The ending sucked.

Shame - 8/10
Almost felt like a porn movie which somehow made it into ordinary movie theatres. However, this one had a nice story :p I liked the New York backdrop, made me want to go there. A lot of sex scenes and a few scenes that should've been dut down by a few minutes (some of the longer scenes were adding to the high rating though). Recommended!

Nobels Testamente - 6/10
So damn boring vote (avg is 6.0) but I always decide my votes before I go to IMDb to cast them. A pretty nice swedish thriller this one.

The Artist - 9/10
Finally got to see it. I've been really excited since I first saw the trailer (which was before the awards season). Very refreshing to see anything else than teenage action movies. Also from a projectionist's point of view it was cool to see the "dukmask" (the black edges on the side of the screen) move closer together after the ads, instead of moving apart or stay the same. Never seen such before other than when I've played around :) Going to see it again on sunday most likely (hi berh)

Julia's Eyes - 6/10
Expected more. It was decent but I thought it was quite stupid at times. My girlfriend said the same. Small details that didn't make sense. The way they acted, events that occured etc. The Orphanage is much better (same lead and producers).

Pelinrakentajat - 8/10

Very interesting documentary about the Finnish gaming industry, you can find it on youtube here. Cool to see how these people got together and did all these demonstrations that got lots of praise even from the US. The documentary mostly follows Remedy and the people behind Max Payne, you can also see the actual person Max was based on. Only for Finnish speakers I'm afraid, although you can use translated captions.

Riot On! - 7/10

Another documentary, this time a heavily edited one, about a Finnish company called Riot Entertainment. This one is in English mostly and I really recommend it, just shows how far you can get by simply having massive cojones.
