I want a new monitor for my desktop computer, I'll use my old as 2nd monitor so I can multi-task and I was wondering your thoughts on what I should buy.
Overall, I'm up to spend up to 1000$.
I currently have: Dell ST2420
My computer specs are: Dell XPS8300
Since that, I've replaced graphics card to GTX680 and PSU to 650W
I know there are couple of sites that searches through specs, but I'd like some more comments and opinions about why to choose specific settings.
Monitor: OLED preferably but LCD, LED should be fine as well
Screen Size : 25" to 30"
Recommended Resolution : 1920 x 1080 or bigger, I guess I'd like 16:9 ratio, but I don't know. 2560*1440 seems interesting as well, but a lot of stuff is designed for 1080p, so Idk
Response Time : under 5ms i guess? for no blurs in elma, lowest possible would be best I guess? that and refresh rate, right?
HDMI : this is to have sound on screen? VGA could be enough I guess
Image Contrast Ratio: I don't know...
Refresh rate: 60 or more, is it really worth to have like 120? 60Hz is slightly noticeable if paying attention.
Sharpness: I think I'd like a great one because I'd love to watch movies in super quality and gaming as well. I'm not really acknowledge about it tho.
What if I purchased this? BenQ GW2750HM

I personally think anything over 24 inch is too big for desktop use.
For your budget make sure you get 144hz and a decent response time.

Looks very nice indeed, pretty cheap as well (knowing my budget). Wanted to try higher than my current monitor size because some games have so much stuff on screen and almost no space for viewing the action lol. Well that's just me being picky I guess, not a mandatory thing to have, at least not lower than 24". I'll keep looking for opinions for a week or so then buy one.
Thanks Xarthok!

Tbh, if you got displayport get the ASUS ROG 27" 144hz monitor, its fucking amazing.
And yes, going from 60hz to 120hz+ is like going from swimming in syrup to water, the difference is immense

Thanks for the reply, Ecchi, but that one's way out of my price range. I'll be buying a monitor from this website, as I have $110 credit with them already, and I'm looking to spend up to $800. The one you mentioned is $1400. From a little bit of research I have decided I want the IPS panel type because that is better for graphics editing. Any more advice would be much appreciated.

I'm thinking of buying this monitor. Any good?
Re: Computer Hardware and tweaking
Too little response time for elma xD 4ms gray-to-gray. Possibly 12ms norm then.Lee wrote:I'm thinking of buying this monitor. Any good?
Nah that is nothing.. I have 5ms on my Samsung 2233rz monitor 120hz.
120hz so more comfortable for eyes than 60 or 75.
IPS though.. why o,o
IPS better for document reading what I know, never read about it though. Modelling as you say, dunno.. haven't heard about it.

Thanks Bjenn for your input. Just letting you know I did buy that monitor, the BenQ GW2765. It's working out pretty good so far.
