i doubt any practical computer user prefers quicktime, realplayer or WMP. these programs are clearly made for the public who dont understand practicality, efficiency, and l33tness regarding computer usage. it could be an interesting poll for trying new software, but not these crappy ones.

btw, how many computer relateed topics are there on lauta.

As this seems rather to be a "which is the best music player" thread rather than "What is the best program to listen mp3's while playing?" (which makes no sense), it is moved to -> Non-elma related discussion :o

I use foobar2000 because it is very lightweight player and doesnt include a lot of unnecessary stuff that is never used

Maybe, for some very few people, but mostly people would just pick the music player they like best normally, leaving the thread with practically no elma-related discussion.

wmp: not so good in effects, and nearly no plugins... its power is not very great, i don't use it

winamp: lots of plugins, a great player, but i don't use it because of its layout (i don't much like it...)

iTunes: a well-designed player, with a lot of good functions and easy management, i am currently using it, but i am being troubled by its large consumption of cpu power and memory.........

Foobar2000 rocks :) No unnessisary MB-Ram used.

And the randomizer is also much better than WinAmp.

WinAmp sux.. i had 2 songs in the playlist. and it chose the same song.
couldn't be worse.

Always play the same song. Without "Repeat" mode.

Go use FooBar2000 :D

just remember to install the special version if you want to play .wma files also. errhm, special version also added smth else, maybe it was that you can create wav from anything you play or smthz. Special version doesn't make it really heavier :P

And those wanting the np: script for mIRC for it. You can download it here http://amip.tools-for.net/index.php?content=download it says 0.7 on the zip but it's for 0.8 too. There's the amip script for winamp too etc. I had little mangoing putting the np. script work first, so except maybe problems, but if you had some np. script before, you shuold get it working.

I personally use irssi at the moment that is screened from a remote computer so it is hard to do any np. script, but fortunately foobar2000 is pretty cool. If I just activate the player and press ctrl+c it copies the filename. Then I just paste it to irssi if I want to show others what I am playing :P donnoz if winamp copies the filename that wayz.

Tried this in winamp 5, and it did flip the order of the two songs nearly every time (fast shuffle mode).
