Elastomania Oscars

Post by Sprocket » 25 Dec 2002, 17:29

Now that the Elastomania scene is getting quite big it might be fun with a yearly event similar to the Oscars/Grammys/Emmys etc. based on results/achievements in the previous year. Of course it would have to have a spiffy name such as "The kuski awards" or something like that...

What do you think?

Categories could be something like:

Best external level (design)
Best external level (playability)

- Best "pro" kuski
- Best "newcommer" kuski
- Most friendly kuski

- Most impressive wr improvement (such as IRK's headbanger, Nostrada's Warm Up etc.)
- Best published replay (internal pro/wr replay)
- Most slesk replay (such as Milagros' FUNX, Darmoeds Headbanger-headfirst, jallis impsy etc.)

- Best initiative for the scene (Level of Month, Chainlevel, Lost Internals, Nations Cup etc.)

- Best Elasto-related Website

- Best cup (competition with time limit for each level such as wcup)
- Best site contest (comptition without time limits such as Skintor levels, no-brake contest etc.)

Those were just categories I could come up with in 10 minutes - I am sure others could come up with more. :)

Probably moposite as always.

Just thinking, categories like "most slesk replays" - some kuskis would just get it year after year.

I think moposite crew (abu, pexi) should put the nominees up and then we could vote for our favourite in each category. But the votes shouldn't be shown here like in regular polls, so it would be more exiting when winners are announced :)

damn! i was thinking of the same idea too!

my ideas:
-presentation of winners for various contests and cups
eg. wcup4, lom, moposite kinglist
-best level pack
-best contest
-biggest tt improvement
-biggest contributor to the scene
-hold the vote kuski of the year 2002

it could be on #across. anyone bitching about not having irc can go away, it's easy to get

it's on +m mode or whatever so people can only watch and not chat during that time. the presenters get op and the winners get voice so that they can copy+paste their 10 line speech (previously made)

would be very good, not too much to organize i would think, just get some people to discuss who will win what

Me and PeXi are willing to arrange this. Let's discuss more and find more ideas. #across is good place for it. We collect 3-5 people with us to jury.

I dont think it is a good idea make jury by Abula. I am sure he will choose his friends and all will be from Finland.
Better will be if jury has 6 members from each contries (the best in total time) like from Hungary CSabi, from Finland Abula, from Sweden Bartek etc. Chairman of these country will choose their countrymen.

naah. seeing all stuff that's been going on here for the past year i think abula is positively objective in everything he's done. e.g: LOM, KOM.

i think ppl should vote for nominees to be put up, and then the jury would choose from (best 5 of) them who wins.

I liek the idea of having one representative of each country. Each country could nominate a kuski to be the spokesperson and that person gathers the votes from each of the people in his country. The kuski/site/rec/lev/whatever with the most votes will be the one that country votes for. Then the spokesperson send Abula or someone the vote in an email...done

I just had to make my first post here ok.
Because if there was an award for best team name my team would have to win. [EMA] = the elmasturbators !!
ColdFIngers could be runnerup, cos they also have a name that has connection to the game and sounds nice. But Z-oren your team wouldnt stand a chance

You know, I was thinking this kind of idea as well. But i will give the originator of this Topic the Credit :D

There currently is the Best Designer of the Year, and (sure) that will be Zebra or BarTek. But i was wondering. I saw the "Best Newcomer", i think you can part that up in several other Things like:
- Best new Wc Entree
- Best New Designer
- Best New and so on...

Because the "Best new Player" is very Big, from my opinion, Not much players Can drive, Edit and Post things alot. Every Catogoury on Moposite Could get something like the Best Player idea. Also now there Are several new Lgr's, something like best Lgr-Designer.

Summary: Split Best New Player up in several things, and dont only give "prices" for Driving Skills, becuase not everyone has them, but they do have Other Talents.

(p.s.: This is no: "uuuh, pick me, pick me, pick me! Post :))

I didnt mean Best Level Designer Xhomaz, Thats already Determined by the LoM Contest. Best New Designer as in: he/she entered from complete unknownness and still made it to the LoM competion several Times.

(Maybe ya made your entrance there, I dont know, only look at Moposite for Half a Year now :))

Best Level Designer doesn't necessarily need to be determined by LOM. Xhomaz only participated in the beginning and Skint0r is in the "Judges panel", both of those are very good level makers.

I think LOM shows only the best theme lev designer. Not everybody can do as nice figures/charrecters as bart but that doesn't mean they are worse at making fun and höyläable levs. It also takes a lot of work to invent how to make your lev suitable for the theme and that's why not many takes part in the contest. Many of my favourite lev designers aren't fighting from the first position. Ville_J might be my favourite but he has no changes to win anymore. Ramone hasen't taken even part but still his contest is one of the best.
So...I think there could be "best level designer" category 8)

this is a great idea

it is good for the elma scene

there should be few categories but have different parts to each
like:

levels
-designer
-level

replays
-best slesk
-favorite replay of year 2002

lgrs
- best lgr

and so on

and i would like to see a best newcomer award cause i think i could be classified under this category.kuskis should be able to display reasons they should be chosen for a certain category.

reasons to nominate me for best newcomer(<====if there is a category for this)

- my tt was over an hour at the beginning of the year 2002 and now is 44:36.xx
- i went under 50 mins on september 22nd
- have tried to be as involved in the elma scene as possible, wc, tt, ect...
- co-founder of team thbsp
- made many good levels
- have records on a few peoples contests
- frequent #across converser
- 72nd place currently in wc

-citizenship award (nicest kuski)
-overall achievement (dz for under40, maybe dmd for under 39)

best newcomer categories
-best tt
-best levels
-best overall
-best achievement

me for best newcomer
started playing elma in jan 2002
atm my achievements are:
-tt under 50
-maker of a successful personal website
-co-founder of team aus and updater of the website
-very successful levels including 3rd place overall in lom
-8 points in wcup4 :p

I think the idea is very cool, but i have a feeling that all the prices would go to finland, sweden, norway and russia ... maybe hungary too 8)

... category: most unlucky kuski
actually i think both sick mambo and i could be nominated here :P
mambo made 20.19 in enigma while the wr was nostradas cheated 19.75, so his time would have been wr
i made 18.00 in hooked about 1 week after tibity made wr, if i had been a bit faster to make that time or if he hadn't made wr, i would have had it 8O

anyways, schooltime ...
