new guy...

Post by nikopdr »

Hey...

I didn't really know where to put this, but here I go,

I am Niko. I am 17 years old and from Finland. I have played elastomania for a small time periods during a few years and I still am a huge noob on it. For example, I know the techniques named piping and boosting to name a few, but myself I am unable to do them as I obviously cannot control the bike properly.

I have seen lots of movies like "Elastomania Done Quick" and I am amazed how you guys can achieve such fast times(of course I watch the WR lists too! ) on some tracks that take me approx 2 minutes to finish!!! 8O

I have a few replays of my driving and a youtube video and please be gentle, I am still trying to learn. I can't find any tutorials though, and I, for some reason don't like YouTube tutorials. So if anyone could give me a quick tutorial, of how to do a boost, or piping, I'd be glad and thankful.

Here are the replays I have mentioned earlier on my post -
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A3LSEDV9
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_opYlRZhJ4

Explanations:
hbniko0-2.rec - My stuff on Headbanger... They are just to show off what I do on the main part, and to show that I don't know how to get to the pipe section of this lev.
nikotest.rec - Testing, really noobish.
nikospin.rec - Doing the Zweqspin, or some sort of mutation of it. I don't know, I was told it was called the Zweq spin.
YouTubevid - Nothing... Just a finish on some levpack's lev I downloaded from some site.

I hope you take time to help me with my quest of becoming a slightly better Elma player than I now am.
Thanks, and regards

Hello nikopdr! I love to see new kuskis getting invoulved with the scene :) You are more than welcome and just ask if you want anything. As far as techniques and evolving goes I don't have time to write anything now, but I will try and help you tomorrow.

Nice to meet you!

Boost? Bounce, brutal? Anyway, hello new guy, I'm pretty sure that you'll be 10 times better than me in 6 months, and I play since 5 years now.

I highly recommend for you, to play belma.
A lot of battles are played there every day (they are running almost permanetly), you can comprare your skills with others and watch replays of winning players. Or wait for Elastomania online (EOL) which should be released, ehm, dunno when it will be released, but i believe it will be released soon.
Also hoyling of internals (those basic 54 levs) will improve your skills rapidly.

nikopdr: If wou want to practice piping, bounces, special tricks, etc then the levelpack called "Playing" is very suitable for you. You'll find it here:

http://koti.mbnet.fi/zebra/playing.html OR http://paprika.moposite.com/info_knowledge_playing.php

as well as recs with target times for each of the levels. The download links are found at the bottom.

Oh and btw, welcome to the elma scene! :)

Hey all and thanks for a warm welcome, you sure are quite kind towards new guys like me!

I have had the belma patch, but never went to it, because fearing of getting called a noob is too high.

I will see about joining belma later on when I get home again.

Thanks again, I will try those lev-packs, after all, practise makes perfect

Yes, you will most likely be called noob. But guess what! It doesn't take the fun out of belma! :D Because you can't screw someone else over just because you're not as good as the best kuskis. Though if you're not good enough, some of the levs might be too hard, but you should def try it out.

well, didn't do to me, nor jamppa....or rast, or jonharkusykkel or suharice or etc. etc. u get the picture :D

Thorze has that idea because he has been treated that way.

But i can tell from ur post's alone that u will be safe from any "vittuilu"
Just keep on checking replays and figuring out how the suspension, holding and letting gas and such works :wink2:
U'll be flipping brutals and bouncing all over the place in no time.

Didnt get any hate either in the start, except when I started an uberold level my first time on belma just to test how startballe worked.
After that more or less everyone has treated me the way I deserve:)

Welcome to the scene, and i hope to see you in belma :D
The first time i added a Lev they started joking about it with sarcasm and stuff... but dont worry, with some time you'll make good levs and become a better player, also you will find awesome people in belma so you'll enjoy your stay
