Times visible in cups?

Times visible in cups?
EOL cup mode gives us a new opportunity to show people's times during cup events. So far that kind of real time information hasn't been possible. But people are used to the old system where you only see the results after the events. And somehow it makes sense too, because a quicker style would be quite impossible to stay secret if the times are visible. But in battles the times are usually visible. What do you think, what's the best alternative for a cup?

Re: Times visible in cups?
Of course times should be hidden in cups.

Re: Times visible in cups?
Having times visible would suck big-time.
One can even imagine some idiotic consequences: Someone comes up with a new fantastic style, but waits until the very last hours to actually drive a time with that style, to keep it hidden.

Re: Times visible in cups?
If we want hidden times, then mila has to fix this bug:
You can see the best times by pressing shift+f5 and then re-entering the level.
Because if that bug exists, there is no sense trying to hide the times at all.
Also notice that even if times were visible, you can still hide yourself from others.

Re: Times visible in cups?
I really don't understand why would anyone even think about making cup times public. It would suck so much and I would be sure not to participate that kind of cup. For battles visible times are perfect but not for cups.. no, not at all.
< roopemies> horror and frustrating and can't play, sounds just like you

Re: Times visible in cups?
I have one example in mind where visible times would've ruined an event.
King Cup, Event 2: Win by dz by using the pipe. He beat the second player by over 15 seconds.
Visible times would have ruined the surprise, really.

I thought of that very event myself.The_BoneLESS wrote:I have one example in mind where visible times would've ruined an event.

Me too, actually
I'm sure there are numerous other examples as well.

Re: Times visible in cups?
The point of this topic is that EOL supports online cups where your times are automatically added to the results, thus you couldn't play them offline.
I also voted for no visible times earlier, they just don't fit for cups.

Re: Times visible in cups?
playing offline = practising offline for a week then playing online for the last hour to make the time valid in the cup

Re: Times visible in cups?
Ok, I got the point, and I agree that visible times are not good for cups.
But at the moment we don't have any possibility to start EOL cup with hidden times (because of that bug), so we have to wait for mila to fix it. There are other bugs too (it doesn't save replays), but otherwise it seems to work ok so we have still hope.
