When was the Brutal Volt invented/first landed?

Post by JeMsTaR »

I want to know when the Brutal Volt was invented/first landed, the reason:

I landed my a brutal volt in november 2001, that was when i was a n00b, i started the game at may(ish) 2001 and i thought of creating a frontflip off the ground, just because it would look cool. So the ppl that found uses for it, gratz! I would never have guessed. I only created this trick 'cause it looked good.

"Why haven't we heard about this before?"

Cause i only found out that elastomania was a world-wide, very popular game just last year. I began checking records and entering the australian top 10 only recently (waiting for them to be posted), like december 2002. Then last month(ish) i was reading the dictionary thingy back on the site, and saw brutal volt and a link to read up on it. I went there and found out that this volt was what i came up with.

So now i want to know who landed the brutal volt first? me or... whoever...
Even if i wasn't the first to do this, at least i'm proud that i came up with this flip, on my own, and before i even knew the alovolt existed.

O, also in early 2002 i landed a double brutal volt thingy, i got replays of my double and single and just me mucking around, i was a bit fascinated with flatground stuff back then, so it carries on a bit...

No one specific ever really "created" it, it has always been there.
I think people started calling it "brutal volt" after the player called "Capo" made a level where you really had to use that kind of move to finish it. It was really interesting and its still very famous level which I belive, started the wave of calling that move "brutal volt". I think it was around two years ago or so. But still, it's always been there, only after it was being called by a specific name and after people saw how useful it can be by playing Capos two levels made for training the move, people started to look all kind of advantages of it. And soon there came some really interesting new tricks based on brutal volt, like my uphill battle brutal.

First level I've seen it used was one of the kahvicup levs..the one with two different levs...#12 I think. But the first one where it was used was probably way before that, what do I know..
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?

Dr Luni did it way back in an external hoyla level on the swedish site hosted by BarTek and MIF. I did brutal to beat that time and BarTek said so did Luni... mila is right, I guess many ppl did it in externals just didnt find it the most amaising thing to start to bitch about. Also someone (maybe MP) said some Kahvicup level you needed it to finish, probably same as Svein mentioned. It´s just named after Capo´s level Brutal cause after that it got known. Before that I called it a flat bounce... its really same teqnuiqe.

So, go jerk off... it can´t hurt.

edit: also, btw... I dont see why ppl get so amaised. In across I used brutal to get over 2nd killer in both Over and Under and in Quick Round... it got harder in elma cause head was higher... Everyone did that move even back then... just not to reach high... but it has always been fun to to brutals driving on flats... bah....

Go poo, or take breakfast... its not really my concern

I think's it's kinda brutal to "bend" the bike like you do in a brutal volt.
