Hi,

I've got a new idea of cup that is pretty fucked up, and I'd want to know if you guys think it could work. It's a cup in teams of two, and each team has a pro and a nab in it. The goal of each team is to have the nab making the best time possible, the pro being there to help finding styles and general "troubleshooting". The best nabtime wins.

Good sides: I believe it's a new concept, and it would help nabs progress a bit more and get better. Would also be nice to have exotic pairs and look at how they work together.

Bad sides: I'm not sure at all if pros would have any interest in the cup, I don't know yet how to tell if someone is considered nab or not, and there would probably be a big skill gap between the best nab and the worst nab.

Opinions, thoughts, insults, suggestions?

In my opinion, tt slower then 45 = nab and faster then 40 is pro, just a suggestion even though it would leave out quite alot of players

As I said, it would leave out quite alot of players, but (I atleast) can't see many other ways to decide whos pro and nab, except maybe having the community decide..

well i think it is a decent concept. and so no one gets left out ...

there would have to be a list of less than 45tt players that sign up willingly to be the "mentors", and a list of "+45" players to be the "nabs" that equal the number of the "mentors".

would then have to put all the names of "mentors" in one hat. put all the names of "nabs" in another hat and do a web broadcast via webcam, of pulling the names out the hats to pair the players.

then you have normal cup rules. one week per levs, only the "nabs" drive wins, ..blah blah blah

it isn't a bad concept, perhaps just hard to put into practice. Also levels would have to be made for stylefinding rather than perhaps the best playability. On top of that, generally the best styles are harder, and the nabs time counts, so they may struggle to make the best time.

Nabness would not be determined with TT. I believe we should get many people for the cup and cut in half (dunno, by vote or something?) who should be pro and who should be nab. Then, one possibility is to pair up best with worst, 2nd best with 2nd worst, etc. (roughly, of course), another is to go randomly.

However, I see that 98% of the community is, again, "fuck you mongo bis nab and go to hell with your stupid idea of cup", so I believe it will not happen.

The best ones in the nab category would probably beat the worst ones even without help IMO. I kinda think this would be a fun idea, but it would be really hard to do in a good way.

This is pretty funny. I think it may be better if the cup were like 8 levels long then the pro can submit 4 times and the noob can submit 4 for different levels. Then the peeps in the 45-40 minute range can get paired up together and it would all be even. Zweq's comment was pretty damn funny. I can just picture him having no patience for his noob, and it being a bad experience for everyone. It may even bring down zweq's skill making him never able to drive a wr again.

I know I won't win anyway, and I won't play if it's gonna be my cup and my levs (though someone helping would be truly appreciated, I'd need help for a site and for the levs, because I can make good levs but I think I'd need someone to help with testing to have them almost-cup quality. And of course, to make some levs too.

Ok so here's what I'd want to make.

First we get a bunch of contestants, let's say 6 (I'm being optimistic). We form the teams, trying to have the best with the worst, etc. Then, we make 8 levs: first lev pros play, second lev nabs play, third lev pros play, fourth lev nabs play, etc.

At the end, winner = yay for your team! And maybe some prize would be given, but I don't know what yet. Is someone interested in helping me arrange that cup, and is someone interested in actually playing it?

I'd love to arrange it with you, but this time we think of it more than I did at Thorze Cup 1 , and have the levs ready for the cup.
