Coffee

Post by twipley »

Is not it relevant to talk about coffee? In the world we are living in, takling about coffee might well be the only sane thing left to do.

Just to start the discussion: it feels to me caffeine consumption, in reasonable amounts, is in direct proportion to measurable productivity.

Does it feels like it for you, too? Did you yet have your first coffee? Could you consider living at all without coffee?

(I just got to leave this forum for about ten hours, and drink some coffee, and then be productive on relevant projects.)

I still can't remember who are you, twipley :(

edit: I drink coffee almost exclusively for taste. When I feel tired (and I mean tired to the max) and I have to do smth productive, I use energy drinks.

I took one sip when I was 12, it had no cafeine. I get up at 7 quite easily these days, and consider myself quite productive. I don't need coffee.

Yeah. I imagine you being more of a teajay guy anyway.

I've been drinking coffee since I was rather young, probably 12 or 13 or so (back then with lots of milk). Nowadays I drink about 2 cups a day at work, but I never drink at home (including weekends). I have periods where I drink little to no coffee at all, and I have periods where I drink more. Still, I have no problems quitting, and many times there will go weeks or even months where I don't drink any at all.

I've never been properly addicted to caffeine and never want to be. Hate the effect. Coffee is nice sometimes, but I drink it rarely. Overrated. :R

But yeash, when people at the office ask me "coffee?" I say "tea", but at home I don't drink tea that often. Ice tea though... a lot!

coffe only increases my pulse which is usually pretty high, but doesn't really give me more energy, at least i never feel it.
i often happen to fall asleep after having drunk a strong coffee. i only drink it from time to time when i feel like having some hot tasty drink but i've completely lost faith in its stimulating effects.

Learned to drink coffee 'recently' (within a few years maybe). Sometimes it's nice to start the day with a cup of coffee if I have something to do. At work (when I had some) I drank 1-2 cups every day. I consume a bit more coffee in the winter I think.

I drink maybe 1-15 cups a week, but I prefer tea, which I drink maybe 5-30 cups a week. Tea I may add some sugar and some milk depending on which kind of tea and flavour. Have about 40 kinds of tea now. )
Coffee almost always little milk to make it drinkable directly.

I found this interesting study the other day: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20521321

Yet another reason to add some sugar to coffee.

Today I drank too much; I probably will not be able to sleep for the next six to eight hours.

I remember another study suggesting that benefits (e.g., on memory) mostly come from regular (i.e. daily) use. (Makes me wish I were studying medicine.)

Coffee's great. I usually drink 4-5 cups a day: 2-3 at work and two at home. On weekends my coffee consumption is a bit lower. When I make coffe at home I always drink 2 cups. With milk, absolutely no sugar. I don't know if I am addicted to coffee, but I think I have never suffered any withdrawals over coffee. However, what makes me get up early on weekends is the thought of drinking coffee. When I first wake up and still feel sleepy and tired I just think of drinking teh coffee and suddenly I'm out of the bed already! But this does not work during the working days. I have also associated drinking coffee with getting things done. For example if I start some coding project or music production I feel like it is easier to work hard when I have the coffee mug near me.

I make best coffee in world. 1 teaspoon instant coffee, 4 teaspoons sugar, minimum required boiling water to dissolve, rest milk.

I could make a cook book with this one recipe. Culinary genius.

It's beyond me how one can live without coffee. There's Food, Sleep, Hygiene, Sex and by far the most important one, Coffee. That's the very basic needs of life, and that's how every normal person is born. I read it in a book somewhere! And then for some of us, the cigarettes comes along the way as well. And coffee with milk is like settling with 14:00 in Warm Up - You simply don't. I tell you what, if all coffee drinkers stopped wasting milk or especially sugar in their fantastic coffee, I'd see several kuskis do 13:99 in eol seconds later...That's a promise!
