Moposite upgrade

Post by Abula »

I'm willing to get some feedback about the outlook etc.

And if you didn't noticed yet check the Moposite main page.

BarTek wrote:I will not whine about it cuz its hard getting used to new shit....but there is one thing i would for the site to improve.

1. either it should be more space in the left and right corners!

2. or abula should make the "moposite" logo bigger so it goes all over the page and not in the left corner

anyone agrees?
Just moved BarTek's post to this thread.

Some notes aboout the new design

Post by zworqy »

1. The Elma WRs page is missing. (both links (shortcut and actual link) are broken)

2. The Moposite logo doesn't have to be as wide as the page, but there should be a green area in the top right corner, to make the page a rectangle.

3. There should be dynamic menus that could be expanded/collapsed without having to reload the page.

I saw the elma WR's yesterday.

...page that is :P

1. Shotcut was broken, thank you for telling. It's fixed now. Actual link..hm on what page did you try?

3. Would need DHTML, frames or java(script?), I won't use them.

1. Works now

3. Do you mean you refuse to have it on the site, or don't you want to program it? There's programs that can do that for you.

in my opinion, i dont like the new style.......the font is to big and stuff and makes it look to 'beginner-ish'......then theres all the pages that dont work....."currently updating" or "havent thought of how to do this page yet".......i think there is too many tables aswell.......i think when you do all the pages, smallen the font (like old mopo page) etc. then the page wood look heaps better, thats my opinion anyway...

The outlook is beginner-ish? Hm, maybe. At least the XHTML code is more professional than the old site.

About those pages that aren't ready yet. The choices of mine were:
1) Make everything ready (would take at least 3 months) and keep the old site unupdated that time. People would whine everyday because of lack of updating. Also you would have thought I've quitted doing the site. So no updates in 3 months.
2) As it is now. Half is ready and other half isn't.
I made my decission and still think it was the better one.

Too many tables? Can you explain more detailed? Record lists or what?

a good upgrade, i definately didn't expect it. this seems even better than last one, and u didn't even tell us - a very nice surprise. about the menu - i actually reflected the possibility to make it more efficient and logical, tho i couldnt solve the problem - it's a very good change. keep up the good work!

ps. i have a suggestion, to put the moposite logo aligned left above the center table cell with the main text, if possible, it would look better. dz :*

The new site rocks hard, especially the new tables (until I slip out of em). It would be very nice if there will be OLP tables, too :)

I love the new moposite, the lovely new font style and the way it somehow fills the screen perfectly :D:D and the new records system is brilliant, though I'm still miffed that my month-old state was used so my total is an amazing 3 minutes worse than it actually is! My fault for not sending in my latest one earlier, i suppose :?

the only bad thing i have to say about the new stuff is that your'e monopolysing all the records. some sites rely on their records to get better traffic etc.
im not saying to get rid of it, just telling my thoughts

Abula, you should ask pexi for state.dat of the players that ended their elma carrier
i mean pajen, ZeiZei, ChampiON, KingKong and other great players that won't be ever in the list
they would still be in the top places

there is one bug in rec section

if you choose top100 in one level
and after generation you choose another level and click generate it writes (uphill) :

http://www.moposite.com/?bb=World+Top10 ... ill+Battle
instead of http://www.moposite.com/records.php?bb= ... ill+Battle

It isn't about the code. There must be some ISP problems because for some people ít works for some not. I think you can only wait.

possible improvements:

1. i would be nice to see certain state of one player
the table should look like top10, but only with one player´s time

2. wrs can be updated (by Abula) every week together with records section
nobody would hide some times and so on
you can ask pexi for states of wr recorders and make wr table same as...slovak table

3.wr table can look like olp table
i don't see any nostalgic things

4.wr improvements can be made in new format

that´s all
come on Abula 'the statsmaster', it's your turn now

Two problems: because of the size (like 200 players * 150kB = 30MB, ant it would increase) of those files the uploading and storing in a server isn't possible (limited bandwidth and server space).
milagros wrote:2. wrs can be updated (by Abula) every week together with records section nobody would hide some times and so on you can ask pexi for states of wr recorders and make wr table same as...slovak table
Yea, we were thinking about it but the problem is..PeXi.
milagros wrote:3.wr table can look like olp table

I don't believe this will happen :].

1. it would take only 5x more place (10 times instead of best and average)
4. i meant wr improvements

1. warmup
nostrada 14.12
dd 14.16
dd 14.17
jeppe 14.18
moshman 14.19 - cheated
zynti 14.20
and so on

Of course there have to be all those lists that are now and those personal lists would be new ones. So if there are 200 players it means 200 new lists. Maybe there could be, that only top30 best players' (according to total times) times are in web or something.

Ye ye, I understood what section you meant but the new format?

Noticed I hadn't answered to this so:

I want to use only the standard web technics that the site works on every platform. I'm not good at DHTML or javascript but I don't care because I don't need them, now.

Yes I should.

Kinglist: the program and I could update it myself easily.
Other contest pages: don't take too much time when all other sections are fixed.
Kuskis: under construction, can't say much now if I will need some staff there.
Levels: here I would need someone (I need to know him IRL).

Still some pages are dead?

Ops. Fixed.

These error reports could be in own thread (or was there already one for this purpose), this one is supposed to be about "Moposite upgrade".
